thanks. like i said in the interview part...those guys are sooooo easy to work with. funny you mention spinal tap 'cos just last weekend i was playing a pickup gig and as usual had two basses. the lead gtrst said, "hey, next time bring a 3rd bass and we can do 'big bottom girls' ". and no..next day i did not bring a 3rd bass.

jeff did you love the graphic, the song title, or the song??? hopefully all three. it's an older tune of mine. after coming up w the intial line i was like...."oh, look i wrote a bad jaco pastorius tune". not like i could ever pull off playing like JP.

I was just showing Peg awhile ago a video by a duo named DOS, just two bassists...nothin' else.
This reminds me... Marsha, my girlfriend, is adamant that she is only a rhythm guitarist.
She won't play leads and won't even do any fills.
So, I guess I'm gonna be playin' a lot of bass solos.
But, I guess with my setup, that works out OK anyway.
the two bass thing is a lot of fun. you REALLY have to listen and be ready to pare your playing down when needed. and you have to pay even more attention to your dynamics and tone(s). i checked that mike watt video out. pretty cool seeing the "gentler side" of watt.
i played a gig w my buddy val goodrich last night. she's a really, really fine rhythm gtrst and she totally lays it down. solid. i mostly play bass in that duo so besides normal bass duties i also provide "color commentary". lots of fun. it's quite the luxury being able to dance on top of things when it's called for and knowing it's a stable dance floor you're working on.
i'd encourage you to pursue that. it can be very rewarding and enjoyable.

grant, thanks for the props, brother. i know you're by no means a jazzhead and that kind of music isn't exactly your cup of meat so that means a lot.

I couldn't tell for sure, is your fretless J-bass FENDER's Forrest Green or Lake Placid Blue? I ask because I have a Lake Placid Blue J-bass myself that always gets admiring glances.
sorry peg, those basses are spoken for. and so is the drummer! yeah, john is VERY tasty indeed. he's very humble and maybe even a little insecure about his jazz playing. crazy. i first got w him yrs ago in a blues band. oh, man that guy plays one of THE baddest shuffles ever! i had to check the video to see but you're right, it's not clear which color my jazz-bass is....it is in fact Lake Placid Blue much like the one you have on your profile page only w/o the badass '70's block inlays that your's has. mmmmmm block inlays on a j-bass.
