Since we had a great conversation about humanism a little while ago I put one of my news stories on progressive thinking on my website:
Let's see if the link works.

Yeah, the link works! Enjoy, or not. It's all good...or not. Mike Nobody might appreciate it.

That's just the point, there is no humanism in the story. It's B.S. Pure and smple. We had the humanism conversation HERE. To me humanism is a "nicer" version of socialism, a "palatable" version if you will. All the "news" stories on Levitynews.com are utter nonsense, I have no political agenda, or any other agenda, for that matter, in writing the stories. It's my way of execising comedic relief from a world full of all too serious B.S., like the humanism debate for example. It's amazing to me that I've run into people who actually take the stories on Levitynews.com as real! One gal actually read her horoscope on there and said that it applied to her exactly! I guess if you read something on the internet it HAS to be true, like Popeye "rhetoric" actually influenced Soviet filmmakers! Unbelievable!

And a perfect example of why "humanism" is absolute bullshit.

. Humanism is B.S. because it wants to turn people into sheep, to tow the line, to follow a central ideology. There's nothing wrong with trusting your human brethren as long as they don't want you to become just another worker ant...

Whatever.

You paranoid f*cks will read what you want into ANYTHING.

The weather report is a vast conspiracy to you.

As for turning people into sheep, to tow the line, to follow a central ideology...that sounds more like Christianity or Capitalism to me.
No one ever started a war or went on a bloody crusade to make people be reasonable and use logic.

we all stand on one side or another. I don't get how the thread on humanism has got some here in such an uproar. Like all ism's, it's just a philosophy, and in this case the philosophy has more moral fiber than most others.

C'mon guys- seriously? You are going to pounce on the ideals of social harmony, a better way of life for everyone, instead of just a few? While you bash Mike or whoever subscribes to trying to embrace the better half of humanity, using "sheep" rhetoric, you are failing to realize your own membership into an equally sheepish level of society that just bullies those who don't want to be a part of what you think is best. Isn't that a little hypocritical?

I never even really considered myself as being into humanism.
It's just another 'ism to me.
Someone else brought it up, before I did.
I got pounced on when I agreed with some things it said.
Bob makes it sound like I'm Josef Stalin or something.

The only problem I have with Humanism is that assumption that people are basically good.

Uh...right. We are just paragons of virtue.

that is why the founders tried to tie govt down with a constitution that spelled out ONLY what they could do, as opposed to what they couldn't .

Didn't work. Nothing ever does. Hence my lack of interest in Humanism.

No offense Mike. And no, I'm not going to start another crusade. Too busy!

Well, I DON'T believe that people are all basically good.
I don't think people are basically evil either.
People are EVERYTHING.
Up, down, left, right, any behavior imaginable...someone has probably done it.
But, the problem is what behavior, what attitudes, are you going to reinforce and support?
What are you going to avoid?
