I wrote this one in the early 80s (I think for some contest). Video/recorded in 5 takes yesterday (still flubbing chords on the uke - those frets are tiny!) - sound is from a big condensor about 4 feet in front of me (hence the 'room' sound), the uke plugged into the interface with just a touch of the direct sound with reverb added.

Great job! Lots to like here. Playing, chord progression, the uke, the rests, melody - especially leading into the chorus, the message. The song is good! I really enjoy seeing live performance videos of people I "hang out" with online. It makes you more real. Thanks for sharing!

I liked it too, but it was a verse too long for me. Good job.

Gotta admit I agree with Jimmy. Forgot to say that.

Less is more sometimes. Always leaving 'em wanting more! But it was nice Mike.

Thanks! No doubt, should have combined a couple of verses. I sped the whole thing up as I think a uke-only song should be around 3 minutes long, no longer.

My wife bought it from Austin Bazaar, the sound is not bad for an entry-level acoustic-electric.

I like it Mike... the theme is still relevant today as it was back when you wrote it... the Uke adds a campy or light hearted kind of feel to go along with the lyric. Fits well. I could see cutting down a verse and adding... maybe a bridge to break it up a bit.
Cool beans though! 8)

Thanks, Jahva! It's not a song I had planned on doing at all, but while I was working on a new one (with uke), thought of the old one. If I was serious about using the song, I'd re-do it, but it is what it is at this point!

I've seen performers use a uke for a whole set, and think most audiences are ready for something else pretty quickly - even with an act as good as Greg Hawkes (the Cars) and his uke band - about the 5th or 6th song, the audience is thinking 'ok, can we hear something different now?' So the uke will never be more than a 1 or 2 song 'gimmick' for me.
