My new little set-up in the living room

Most of our music gear is the bedroom.
My girlfriend is usually gaming online in there on those computers and I'm out in the living room.
So, when I get music ideas I don't usually get to record anything, cuz I don't wanna interrupt her.
She gets pretty emotional on those games.
So, I'm keeping one of the cheaper Yamaha keyboards nearby my computer and have a microphone rigged up on a lamp with a makeshift cardboard boom.
Occasionally, I'll tinker around on it and record/edit with audacity.
It isn't much.
But, I can get some rough sketches down before I forget them anyways.
8)

Maybe, if I get enough stuff recorded like that, I will adapt some of it later with other instruments on the other recording gear.

Too bad you can't watch her play and play to it.

That's just as good as playing to the TV.
(You just hope for vids about nuclear bombs and violence)
(SOUND OFF) lol

Cool! I was watching James Taylor last night. I think he was in the Senate House. I could have kicked myself because I saw it on the guide and didn't watch because I thought Oh God not another liberal. Anyways I finally turned it on (caught the last 40 mins.) or so. He was being interviewed by a lady who really had some GREAT questions. She asked him how he wrote and he said he always keeps a small recorder, paper and pencil. When he has an idea he just does what any of us would do with those tools! 8)

If I did that everything would sound like the soundtracks to Braveheart or Lord of The Rings.
She plays fantasy type games with wizards, elves, dragons, and other medieval kinds of stuff.

A habit I got into with my last band lineup is to keep a tape recorder running at all times during practice.
I don't have enough blanks to keep doing that, right now.
But, I still keep the recorder nearby while I'm practicing and hit record if anything interesting happens.

I need to dig through these tapes and put some songs together soon.

You don't know how close that last tune was almost "why unicorns don't have horns anymore", except I showed up at Lester the Gnome's place and he had it all written out for me (well the lyrics at least).

Funny in the earlier email we were going to use that line, well until he changed his mind and wrote a different set of lyrics.

So I thought I might as well go with it and try it his way considering he had taken the time to cram it down my throat.

Otherwise I eat that fantasy crap like it's all made of candy.

Same for sci-fi.. it all tastes good.. !!!!
