After listening to their work, the next step is to serve as an unpaid apprentice and participate in the process. After a few years of working side by side with them, you will really have developed some serious skills.

Learning the recording process is a lot like learning to play guitar. It requires natural talent and practiced skills to be good at it. There are very few short cuts to either one.
