What a long strange trip it's been...

Got back yesterday from a road trip across most of the country generally following good ol' Rt 66. Six days on the road through nine states with mostly 10 hr days of travel and 2200 miles. I'm glad I didn't have to perform every night in a new town.

We left Cincinnati OH on Monday. We took pics in front of Indianapolis Speedway and then stayed the night in Lincoln's home town, Springfield IL. I waved to Dane, Planet, and Lynard from Lebanon, MO. I enjoyed a Rib Eye steak and a couple of beers for Haley in Shamrock, TX. Headed south to avoid a big storm and holed up in Las Cruces NM, just across the border from El Paso and Paperdog. Got a couple of thrashed tires changed 30 miles from nowhere in the AZ desert. Crashed in the college district of Phoenix AZ and then home to SoCal.

This is one big beautiful country. Whew! Too bad we didn't have time to linger longer.

J7, did you go on a tour? I mean playing music? Shamrock Texas, I'll have to look that up! If you ever come close to H-town let me know, if I can get away I'll buy you a couple of beers!

Naw, my wife manages a mobile medical imaging company and they bought a 4th rig. It is a 34 ft mobile mammography van and she wanted to look it over before purchase. We flew to Dayton OH, drove to Cincinnati, checked out the rig, signed some paperwork and delivered it over the next 5 days to SoCal. She said she brought me along just for the eye candy... and she needed a driver. :) That thing is a slow girl and we averaged 50 mph all the way home.

I do get to Houston once in a while. Next time I am bringing my axe and we are jamming!

Dang brother you were really close to Yod! You should have looked him up! I met up with him and he's the "real deal"! If you like to talk music he will tell you some REALLY cool stories about his travels in the music biz!

I was away from the board here (on business trip,) and did not even know you were swinging through.. when I get to California I will come watch your band play at the club.. what did you think of Lebanon? Lebanon is approx. 40 miles straight east of me.. did you stop at Heartland Antiques?

Hey Dane,
I've never been through Missouri and really liked the Ozarks. Beautiful country even in winter. We were on a mission so not much time for sightseeing during the day. We stayed at the Hampton Inn Lebanon and had a late dinner at Catfish Barbeque?? The best pork BBQ, mashed potatoes and gravy I ever ate (sorry mom).

It would have been cool to visit with a couple of BM mates along the way but difficult to plan because our schedule was very fluid. Next time through we will take our time and enjoy the local culture.
