Do your recording at your place with your stuff - make them come to you
'Play' nice guy until you have a copy, then throw off the sheep disguise

Two words: self publish. Another two words: fu*k everybody else (oops, that's three words :!: )

Next time you meet with them bring a lot of pointy things to throw.

All kidding aside, it seems to me that it might be a dangerous proposition to show & Tell your work, mid stroke of the production... Its like trying to serve a gourmet omelette to a prized customer , but still waiting on the chicken to lay the egg.

Your best bet might have been to simply invite the guy straight over to the studio, pour a huge coffee and give him a set of headphones with a brief explanation of the tracks youre 'workin' on... He'd get the idea...and you'd feel like you gave him his money's worth then...

Man, if you had the stems or individual WAV files, there are several people here that could fix the mix problem in minutes.

Assuming that it is a DAW recording

I like treble! LOL!

Hang in there Capt, the more people with hands on your music the more deluted it gets, but sometimes its better to have another person listen. Me Im pretty much a loner recording my stuff these days, that way I know all the phuck ups are mine, where they belong!

Good Luck

It's tough when one person is doing the mixing for others, as not everyone has the same 'ear'.
How about everyone sitting in on the mixing session?

I just had one of my tunes mixes by someone else (for free). He did a good job cleaning up some sections of the song, but the intial drum roll off bringing the band in after the guitar intro was f*cked and the guitar leads in a few places were completely buried in the mix. Luckily, I had the original tracks, so just loaded his mix into the production, and automated the drum roll-off/intro from original to his mix, then added in some guitar lead volumes where needed.
If I'd been in the mixing studio with the guy, I would have had him do this at that time.

You know, I am coming to realize that I am a "type AAAAAA" personality when it comes to this music and I am not sure how much I am going to be able to complete when all is said and done.

And I hate people, they just all let me down because I expect to get what I give, which is all. I don't leave anything out and I hang it in the wind, which is maybe more than I should do because I slip and fall as much or more than anyone else and sheer force of will is not enough to "float the boat".

Fact is that I am too tightly wound and little things skip rope with my last nerve.

Yea it's regrettable that the fellow from the label left before I could "pitch" him, but who knows maybe it's for the best. I am not doing things like "Bridgette Fountainhead" so I don't even know if that would have been applicable since he's coming from Lance and crew's recommendation(s).

I like the current setup because I can play with a competent if not inspired pianist and that's new for me.

Sven is something short of non-existent, but we'll see how he plays out in the end. (I am unsure if he can read English, let alone music but "let the games begin". He looks like a "scapegoat" to me and maybe that's ok as well.)

If there was ever a contest for the most insane individual on Bmix, I'd probably win hands down. I think maybe some of that is stress and frustration inspired, but that's no excuse.

I am just not a people person and if I could mix and master well enough, I'd retire to a life of seclusion and long hours to attempt to create a magnum opus and/or portfolio of materials.

Then I might actually entertain trying to work with people.
(My name's "Lrrr", ruler of the planet Omicron Persei 8, damn but those Humans are an ugly and ill-tempered species. I wonder how they taste!)

As it is now, I am something just short of a rabid animal trying desperately to cook up a body of material that seems to be coming from an unknown dimension with unknown results.

And with that, I just got message that our latest creation has taken a breath and is on our regular "soundclick" site.

I am wrung out like a dirty dish towel left outside for too long in the desert sun..I feel like I was stung by a scorpion and delirious from the poison coursing through my system.

"Say a prayer" because I now know what that Nurse felt like that took the prank call from those 2 Aussie DJ's that called the hospital.

It's like being fed into the chipper feet first because "they" want to see the look on your face as you go in, just don't turn it off until it's done.

If you want to hear it, that's fine by me.
I'll create a "critique thread" but I don't think I am going to load it on the bmix player unless someone really needs me to.

"Speak up if that's the case".

Otherwise, my hands are tied to the mast and I am ready for my lashings.
They are long overdue, so whip away because I don't mind the pain, it lets me know I am still "this side of the dirt". (The technical remarks are the part I value the most.)

(And you know damn well I'd be doing it to you if that's what I truly feel/felt.)

"Come and Gone" is the tune. And it's a departure from what has come down the rose pedal paths so far...get ready for something a bit different.

never give up
8)
I listened to some of your stuff from the link
I liked the quirky English Rock minor sounding tune that came up 1st.
The guitars were fine. The song was right too the point..... guitars effect was just trippy enough.
Me not a fan of the drums. Sorry.
All in all I think maybe you are bit harsh on yourself.
Good stuff and I like the vibe.
Love,

Cap'n I know how you feel! After the lashings you feel like doing a couple of things my advise put the AK away it won't help! Seriously I have come to the conclusion that if I am going to play music with human beings I am just going to have to except their imperfections. Its just not fair fo me to expect them to be perfect because I am not perfect!

Yeah but you can't change what is already agreed upon, that's just "dirty pool".

If I have to go with that type of thing, just put 2 rounds in my forehead and bury in a deep hole, plz. "It's more humane".
