Yeah Metallica covered Breadfan and it wasn't even as good as this...

Sad to say, you are right..they really never did rebound from that.
The new stuff with the large indian guy is not good.

Loved Budgie. Disagree about Metallica. Check 'Just a Bullet Away' to see if they don't still have it.
The latest bass player, Rob Trujillo, took a while to grow on me but I've seen vids of him playing with Metallica, Ozzie and Black Label Sociiety. He has grown on me - the guy gets it done.
Metallica has abandoned the lead / rythym guitar concept (thankfully) and to me, sound better than ever. (but please, spare me the ballads!)
