Jeff I actually was listening to similar stuff in the eighties in Down Town Houston...There was a club just blocks outside of the downtown proper , under a freeway of all places. Were talking punk nuevo...(And BTW they were the friendliest Punk rockers I ever drank with.) But that stuff was already spinning in that very cutting edge bar ('82-84)

Itw as primarily a great way to blow steam on the stage for a lot of kids. I remember a large gang who's motiff was rolle'ot violent...But you also wouldn't want to cross them. Them was some crazy days in Houston

Those are okay.
But, the Butts were middle-aged has-beens by then.
Their best albums are the first four they did on Touch & Go Records in the 80's.
The 2 EPs they did on Alternative Tentacles are pretty okay.
But, they hadn't refined their sound enough yet.
