Greetings,

Novice songwriter here, (4 years) (12 years guitar) Im about to go into the studio soon to record a 6 song ep and its not something im taking lightly at this point. I want my songs to be complete but im driving myself crazy trying to find a bridge for a few of them. I write everysong on an acoustic so its kind of hard to visualize the song branching out into something that differs musically but still relevant to the song.

A friend and I wrote this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VerVZpfiq8A and im not happy with the bridge at all.. Would it be better if maybe there were no lyrics and maybe a guitar solo or more lyrical content or a completely new bridge? I dont know.. Somethings just not right.

Any feedback or insight would be greatly appreciated or a bridge that inspires you. [/b]

I'd caution you about going into a studio unprepared. You should have all the songs complete, arranged and ready to go. Are you just going to record yourself playing guitar and single vocal track?

The song sounds pretty good, although when you come out of the bridge into the chorus with paused chords it doesn't sound quite right.

The songs are pretty much all fleshed out, They will also have a full band behind them. Some things will change probally when we start the pre-production phase. Im just trying to tie up any loose ends before I head in to save money. For this song alone I wrote several different versions and tried the song in different keys and such. Im happy with it but the bridge still doesnt sound right. As for the pausing of the chords after the bridge I was trying to get a vulnerable sound but i think the timings off and I may have to tweak it or take it out entierly. Thanks a ton for taking a listen , I appreciate it.

I like it, the bridge is OK. I'm trying to think of what the main riff reminds me of, I know I've heard it somewhere else. Good job.

The bridge (IMHO) is fine, but your prolly not liking it, cause you keep singing.
- Try not singing during the bridge... It will lend to a nice dynamic break.
-If you decide to stop singing, then cut the bridge count in half. (Instead of two full rounds, just do one full round)

Thanks Jimmy :p
My buddy told me the riff during the verse sounds like a beatles song. He let me listen to it and it does sound alot alike. Its strange because ive only listened to a few of their songs.

Paperdog,
I will try doing one round with no vocals and maybe a guitar fill instead. Thanks man.

Take it up a notch on the second "this is how I am" line, vocally, with a slight variation in melody.
Then straight into the chorus again. No instrumental space between where you stop singing and the chorus. Just a: Stop... 1, 2, Chorus.

My two cents.

That's what I was thinking... A very brief spurt of that guitar break

Good song! Well you certainly have a lot of directions available with this one. It would do well with all electric.
Either clean or a little dirty would both work. Room for vocal harmonies as well. I think the proper bass line would really jack this song in...

Thanks guys for the feedback,

Thanks Kayden, Im anxious to see what the producer has in mind for it. I think a little dirty would sound good during the breakdown. Planning on taking the interlude out unless its done properly in the studio.

Gtzip, Thats a badass idea too. Every two cents helps and I appreciate it.

i don't hear any similarity to "Michelle", but the descending line you use for the A section is fairly common move. this Eurythmics tune comes to mind

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zf052uxFF58

i have no problem w the bridge. there's one spot where you seem to stumble just a little a bit rhythmically w the vcl.... but get that worked out and it works fine for my tastes. nice job.
