Oh man, I loved me some Trapeze! They used to play Beaumont and Houston a lot in the late 70s. Rocky Athas and Lightning did a lot of shows with them.

I was at this reunion tour show at Dallas City Limits. I found this hot blonde and told her that Glenn Hughes wanted to meet her, then went to security and told them that Glenn wanted me to bring her back there.

Worked like a charm! I got backstage and met the guys (Glenn was very happy to meet this girl, btw). I told Mel Galley that he sounded as good as ever and he actually teared up.

Apparently when he was with White Snake, Cozy Powell was wrestling with him and rolled on his hand, causing him to wear some kind of brace that constantly pushed his fingers down so he could play guitar.

The fact I didn't notice his playing suffered really touched him. (they had Craig Ericson on guitar to handle the things he could no longer play)


Those guys were the greatest trio of all time, imo. Dave Holland went on to be the drummer for Judas Priest and Glen Hughes went on to play bass/sing with Deep Purple.

Yes That's Johnny Duff on guitar/vocals Brock Proctor on Bass. The reason I looked them up is NO ONE does Trapeze better but they don't have a video Damn it! Yeah Pat Travers guitar player sets in with them when he is in town!

If you remember Pat Travers was the singer and guitar player but he had another lead player named Pat Thrall! Well a local boy named Kirk McKim is playing with him and has been for about 10 years!

what a trip. I was there about 2 weeks ago, stayed at the Comfort Inn just across Westheimer from there and thought I should look you up but didn't have much time anyway.

If I'm not mistaken, Both Travers and Thrall played lead, Travers was primary lead player, Thrall mostly rhythm. Travers played a Melody Maker, I never knew what year it was. Both great guitar players, but I think most of the leads were Pat Travers.

I may be wrong...

Trapeze - Only time I was able to see them was in 1973 in the Beaumont area, great show, I think right after Medusa album was recorded. I still have a copy of that one on vinyl. Probably never get tired of listening to Black Cloud...

We start at 9pm.

Pat Travers is the main lead player but Pat Thrall played most of the fills he also played probably 40% of the leads. Pat Travers I believe played the Melody Maker

When I was in my teens Thrall had a lead guitar method book, it was basically pentatonic scales in box form, he is the guy I guess who made me whatever I am, cause I still rely on that information from way back.

This would have been around 77-78 I think.

Then your memory is better than mine....I saw them at least twice but couldn't remember anything except SOMEONE had a guitar just like mine at the time. I started on a 64 Melody Maker with the double-cutaway and a couple of Dimarzio super-distortion pickups that I installed in it. Man, that thing would scream!!!
