A bite on 2 songs from an A&R firm in my inbox @ reverbnation.
it will no doubt be a hustle to get me to spend money with them, or a deal that even i can refuse.
it always is.
But i suppose that if your a member on Revenue natio... i mean reverbnation, they expect you'll be shoveling out cash while grasping at stars anyway.
If they're looking for either outa me, they best listen to this song...
got one pair o shoes
this here guitar
aint got no monies
no house an no car ~ Jesus Child - Hayden King - 2012
Salute!

Yeah I think I know who you mean.
That A+R jerk wants between $299 and $5999 for "promotion".
I sincerely hope that isn't the guy that is soliciting you, Hayden.
He's as crooked as the day is long.
Check out his link, you'll see what I mean if it's the same guy/gal/cretin.
Edited, as in I meant to write GAL...

this is why I don't have a RN account. It's nothing but a collective preying ground for amateur promoters and shakedown artists- people who ask you to play for "recognition, exposure, and prizes" where the prizes are more often some small small cash prize like $1000, and like the 'unsigned only' competitions, they offer "mentoring from a major A&R label rep" as a major part of the grand prize (really? wtf?).
Others, as mentioned already, just want to suck all the money from your wallet for various promotion, recording, or other industry efforts where you will supposedly get major attention of some kind, and when you fail to succeed, it's always your fault, and your music isn't good enough.
I just got another turd email from unsigned only again.. If their competition was so good, why do they have to spam me begging for my entry fees?
It's all fraud.
Think about it- how many bands or artists EVER got signed by winning one of these competitions, outside of american idol and other TV shows? Pretty much none. Even if 1 or 2 did, you would statistically be far more likely to have a youtube video go viral.
Hayden, keep doing what you are doing. Look at attending the music conferences in your area- For us it's the Cape May Music Conference and Millennium Music Conference. I don't recall where you live, but almost every area has them (except the Seattle area.. which makes no sense lol)

I get those 'offers' often at reverbnation. No reason to not have a free account there, though. It's an easy place to post your songs - and if you have them for sale anywhere, free links to those sites, unlimited videos, and list your gigs, too. Also good for finidng places to go out and listen to others' music, or possible places to play yourself.

This (the hooror stories) is why I am so fearful about making any attempt to sell music on line (Assuming any of my music is viable)
Time for a new thread...

ETU beat the curve, I think that in of itself is promising.
I was sure it was going to get dire in a hurry.

You'll have no problem with that.
I doubt you could give it away.

Don't come to NJ, they are all dicks here...
NJ where the strong eat the weak and the weak become the strong or they become dinner.
If you can't turn the other cheek over the small stuff...yikes.
(Don't sweat the petty stuff and don't pet the sweaty stuff.) lol

So i got the call; they threw some labels, some movies (with big stars in em) and some recording artists that they work with at me...
And of course the one time lifetime licensing fees too.
since i'm a BMI member and they work with them i get a discount
At least they sounded more reputable than the others that have tried me.
