The day after hurricane sandy we were all in the dark. Even with generators and gas cans.

I was out helping somewhere, I don't remember... this has been a long 2 weeks.
Somebody started to kick in the back door here. I just pulled up and all I saw was a shadow running off. Gwen met me at the door shaking. BIG HUG.
"How do you load this thing? Mossberg 500. Where did you hide the shells?"
I wouldn't make this point but at that point in time,,, There was no government, heart attack, no ambulance, police,,, yeah right,,,,LOL.

Any way I just bought her a real nasty home defense weapon.
It's a 5 shot revolver shot gun that is also a 45 rifle.
Yeah I said REVOLVER SHOTGUN.
It will fire off 5, 410 shells as fast as you can aim and pull. At 25 yards,,,, BYE BYE.

It's called the "CIRCUIT JUDGE" actually based on a handgun that fired shot gun shells. lightweight, (4.75lbs) Easy to load. Easy to use.

I LIKE IT!!!!

An unloaded rifle is a fancy stick.

Glen a guy I work with has one of those, "Judges".

Awesome pistol.

My wife has a 20 gauge pump she keeps at ready, she also totes a 38, so noone better try getting in my house. Cause she does know how to shoot!

That's why mine stay loaded and EDUCATION is the key to safety.

My wife carries a S&W 38 . . .

The 12 gauge leans against the wall on her side of the bed.

That particular series of firearm by RUGER have been very popular.
They have even spawned some new "self defense" loads in .410 caliber.

The .45 Long Colt is also a very effective round despite it being well over 100 years old.

Hollow pointed bullets in the .45 and a 3" shot shell in a #4 or #6 shot would be my defensive recommendation for effect vs over-penetration safety issues in the home.

Not all of the "JUDGE" series of weapons are chambered for 3" shells.
So be sure you verify you chamber length first.

You guys are all a blast ,,, and you are all absolutely correct.

What is so neat about the judge is the simplicity. It has a hard pull and with one chamber left unloaded that leaves the margin of error that other some other shotguns don't. You can EASILY always tell when it is loaded.

GT that was very funny

JW,,, I will always call before I just drop by.

Sans they have these pdx 410 3 discs and 12 BBs. You are right 4 shots and you will take down a wall,, so there is the conundrum.... But from first hand experience if you hit some one with bird shot,,, you may only piss them off,,,and boy was I pissed.

Thanks for the input,,, You guys are GREAT!!!!!!!

The Sears Roebuck JC Higgins model 60 12 gauge semi auto shotgun might be worth $200.00 in really good condition.

Myself I do not like auto-loading shotguns . . . especially the older ones.

I do not consider them reliable enough for hunting much less self defense purposes.

Having a collection, and adding one for that reason, given excellent firing condition.

Perhaps

Good brand new tactical shotguns can be had for less than $300.00
Stevens puts out one made in China ( yeah I know, me too ) but it's actually quite well made.

Like the SKS, actually a pretty good working Chinese rifle.
(oddly enough)

Glenny, they also make a 7 shot that might be up your alley.
If your wife has a strong arm and hand then that gun in a 5 shot
version is fine at 20 feet or less. The 3 disc 12 bb load is great.
Obviously accuracy is not an issue with this gun. With proper arm strength,
it is the perfect short range defence weapon for your wife.
Remember, a gun out of reach can cause Your death.[/b]
