Girl bands - WTF?

Hey, I've got nothing against women in bands, or bands with nothing but women, either, but I do have something against the industry - specifically venues - that will just hire women bands sight/sound unseen.
A friend sent out an APB a couple of weeks ago, looking for a female lead guitarist - I kidded her about gender discrimination.
Now I see their BM profile:
http://www.bandmix.com/the-chickz/ (note the picture in the poster is NOT them) and they've got gigs booked already. Sure, the first one is as opening act, probably unpaid, but I see they've already got something listed for February. And they're still looking for a lead guitarist!

I have nothing against Gay people. The all girl bands I have seen here in Texas... well lets just say they don't like men!

Mike, that show was earlier this year, not next year. Why don't you borrow a dress and try out?

any group of people can organize under any specific banner of race, sex, creed, ideal, etc.. under any circumstance, with one exception.
You still cant create a club for white men only (without being raked over the coals for it).
I'm nowhere near racist, sexist, or homophobic, but certainly someone should see the irony that people who claim to be discriminated against for whatever reason single themselves out and ultimately practice and endorse the discrimination they claim they cannot stand.

Female lead guitarists seem to be in short supply. I know of two all-female bands that are looking for a lead guitar player and have been for some time. One is an all-girl tribute to the Ramones (Ramonas?) and the other is an all-girl cover band (Cherry Octane).

Oh, wow, didn't notice the bad typeface year, so it must have been the earlier incarnation of the band.
My friend joked that they wouldn't turn down an audition from a guy in a skirt - she has been in a band with a kilted guy for years.
Too far from me (90 minute drive from top of state to bottom (at least not 5 hours like Texas!), and I hate having to shave my legs before every show!

Hope you're joking, because that's the usual statement from someone who questions their own sexual orientation!

I am a self-professed homophobe, idk why, I just am albeit tolerant to a point.
As in, they give me the willies but like all people, some are ok and some are not.
I like the ones that are decent folks and don't give you sh*t when they know you aren't of their ilk.
The ones that really bug me are the ding dongs with bad intentions and almost need to get beaten to a pulp to get rid of them. (very few of those still breathing)
I.e. If you don't act up, you won't get fuct up.
Otherwise, they're people too like the rest of us.

Girl bands? Check out GirlsSchool. Particularly when Kelly Johnson was playing lead. That girl could smoke a Les Paul.
She died of cancer, tragically, or I'd be in the UK, putting flowers in her mailbox.
Nothing gay about those gals!

We can't find enough gigs, maybe it's time for a sex change.
