And when i die....

so what's happening to your prized and valued instruments when ya kick off?

i have an arrangement w my buddy and duo mate Val. if i kick off first she gets my old '58 (Harmony made) Alden archtop. scoff not...it's a fine axe and she LOVES it. if Val shuffles off the mortal coil first i get her early/mid '60's HARMONY H75. this was her dad's gtr and she brings it out to our gigs for me to play.....a real hardship. not. it's a fully hollow 335 type thinline w THREE DeArmond Gold foil pickups w vol and tone controls and KILL SWITCHES (i" toggles) for each p/u! whoa....the variety of sounds you can pull out of this is staggering.

as for the rest of my instruments i told the mrs. to do what she will w a cpl of exceptions. a good bass buddy of mine loves this 1990 WARWICK Stage One Streamer bass so he gets that. and my sax and gtr playing buddy and cohort in Planet Jazz gets my Eastman 803CE archtop.

i suspect she'll prolly keep my old '36 MARTIN O-17 as that was part of our courtship yrs ago. i hope the rest go to good players who'll actually use them and appreciate 'em.

below is a photo of an H-75 very similar to Val's. enjoy the eye candy.

peg, not only do you sound great (love your tone), and have some cool originals.....but you also have great taste in basses apparently.

....no photos handy but you can see hear my WARWICK here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiYEFNijKto

i do think these are superior to SPECTORs....and since there are so many similarities...i've always wondered about who copied who. i do believe Spectors were around first but i'm not sure about that.

mine does have "crazy grain" as you referred it. body is gorgeous quilted maple and the neck is 5 pc birdseye maple (rice crispies all over the place) and wenge. my friend who's a woodworker told me the body and neck could be classified as AAAAA.

whenever i'm going to play a gig somewhere that has dubious acoustics....this is ALWAYS the bass i bring.

As far as basses, I stick to my ole P-Bass, badass tailpiece and active pickup, it can cover most anything, and the tone controls actually work too!
