ONE year, that's all there should be allowed in a Presidential election cycle. By law nobody should be allowed to announce their candidacy until one year from election day. Then ALL the primaries are held within the first six months, conventions within the next three months, and then three months of campaigning and debates. The debates should include the top five political parties, and they should be true debates. Each speaker gets exactly two minutes to answer a question and then their microphones are turned off. Polling should NOT be legal. Candidates would then have to spend more time in ALL 50 states. There should be an absolute dollar limit allowed for advertising for all parties. The method of voting should be uniform and standardized. Voting fraud should be considered a crime that carries a minimum of five years in prison...
Oh well, it's nice to dream....

I'm afraid the 1st and 10th amendments would keep your suggestions from happening. Elections are matters of state's rights, decided by states. The Federal government cannot standardize anything, adhering to the Constitution. Of course, if Obama is re-elected you may get your wish on most of your list, for different reasons.
The system is broken, for sure. It would take patriots and statesmen and common sense to fix it, but not laws prohibiting anything people don't like about election seasons.
It's like lying politicians saying they will take the high road in their campaigns, and they still use negative ads, because negative ads are shown to work. It's all solid hypocrisy at this point.

I'd settle for making it illegal to make robophone calls and putting up stupid dingleberry signs all over the beautiful countryside.

I think ALL robophone calls should be illegal, including the robo-answering machines when you call ANY large business. It's infuriating to have to navigate menus and never find that magic combination code of numbers to get a human, or when you finally do, the language barrier is so bad that you cannot even communicate the most basic sentences.
argh lol

Don't worry. Most likely our elections will only have one candidate in the future if the powers that be have their way.
