Imagine you are in a jail cell. :( :? On the wall at the back of the cell are three levers. In the corner of the cell there is a ladder and at the top of the ladder is a trap door. :?: Above the trap door is a room where there is a single light bulb in the ceiling  that is connected to one of the switches below. You are approached by the gaurd who tells you that you may inspect and operate the levers as many times as you like... he tells you that the switches are all currently in the off position... but that in ten minutes -you are to go up in the room through the trap door. You cannot come back down and touch the levers any more once you have opened the trap door. When you enter the room above the trap door you will be met by :D a giant gaurd with a razor sharp sword. :( This man will ask you to tell him which of the switches in the cell below operates the light bulb in the room above. If you guess right... you get certain freedom. :P If you guess wrong you meet certain death. What would you do?

A man is skiing downhill slowly. he comes to a cabin. he looks in the window and he can barely make out the figure of a man through the frosty windows. He barely sees the man and yet he knows he must be hurt, even tho he sees no blood, and the man is simply sitting in his chair.
how does the man know the other man is hurt? what kind of chair is the man in?

hmm, that's a possible alternate answer I guess. The real answer is a hair better... but it's a good guess. I will eventually post the answer if no one gets it in a few days.
thanks!

in answer to the first riddle:

switch one lever on and leave it on. just before the 10 minutes are up, turn that lever off, and switch on the second lever.

at the top of the ladder, if the light is on then the second lever operates the light; if the light is off but hot to touch, then the first lever operates the light...and last but not least, if the light if off but cold, then the third lever operates the light.

did i live?

Ok yer back in the jail cell. beyond the bars there is a corridor with a door at each end and a gaurd at each door. One of the guards always lies, the other always tells the truth... but you don't know who is who. One of the doors leads to freedom... the other to certain death. You may ask either gaurd one question after wich you must pick a door and go through it. What do you do?

ahhh...back in the jail cell...hmm...let's see, i've seen this before but i cannot remember where...

if i remember correctly, ask one guard to tell you which door the other guard would send you through to freedom, then walk through the other door.

reason being: if the guard you spoke with always told the truth, then he would tell you that the guard who lies would tell you to go through the wrong door...hence going through the other door.

and...if the guard you asked always told a lie, he would lie about which door the truth guard would tell you (knowing the guard who spoke the truth would tell you the correct door to go through).

again...did i live?

as for the others, i need more time...i said time, time!!
