might be smart to get out of the cities since they will be the first targets hit, might be wise to live a few hundred miles from ICBM missle silos?.. might be wise to have a radiation proof underground cellar/shelter with plenty of filters stocked up.. canned goods ,you can't go wrong.. greenhouses for relatively safe homegrown veggies and fruits after the shtf....

the sheer amount of missles that would likely be launched could easily cover the entire continental US and hawaii. Alaska might get away with only major metro areas getting nuked, but even that's no guarantee. hiding in a shelter will only last as long as the food and most foods will expire within 3 years, maybe 5-10 before they are inedible, meanwhile, outside, it will take 25 years before you would probably be able to step outside without suffering extreme radiation poisoning. It's going to be a miserable life no matter what.

...Dane ... excellent Post. No one can be truly prepared for nuclear war. Especially as Kramer put it, on the scale that a major exchange would happen. In many ways if it happens then the more the merrier...as Haley states so well.

There is a far greater danger from Radiation that exists in Fukushima ... "Reactor #4" which melted down and whose elevated cooling pool contains enough rods to wipe out the Northern Hemisphere and eventually the Southern one as well. The building is badly damaged, listing and impossible to repair ... just waiting for even a minor quake to rock it over and spill the water and rods and then it is over.... slow painful creeping death everywhere. An Extinction Level Event.

There are of course other scenarios such as a mass CME which we are overdue for and that would endanger every nuclear Reactor that it touched.

I might be of a different opinion if things were developing differently but no. It is merely a question of time before either the CME or the Nuclear Bomb/Reactor scenario wins the Death Race 2ooo. We may be all having not a White XMAS but a rather GREY one complete with fallout ... the Silent Killer.

The "World Leaders" do not address any of this, never have and never will. More Reactor are being built whose real purpose is making nuclear weapons and killing populations one way or the other. They keep pouncing about the Lies of their verbal diaherria spewing for from their orifices whilst at their feet stupid cowardly multitudes adore them. Rather confusing. What is the answer/solution to war ... why more war of course. What about the answer to pollution and contamination ? More More More. Mankind now richly deserves it's just rewards ... having worked so hard and "given" so much for them.

The meek are not inheriting the earth ... they are destroying it. The only way anyone can prepare is Spiritually so who ever or whatever your God or Goddess or Entity ... square yourself with them, enjoy what is left and do some acts of kindness where possible and put whatever little bits of Evil out of it's misery where ever you can. The Swiss are "preparing" so I suppose one may move there if one is stupid enough to believe that they really can survive what is here and what is coming and planned.

In Truth there is no haven save that which you find within yourself spiritually I believe. None of this crap need really change the real purpose of your existence in this life.

you cannot prepare for thermonuclear war, there is no defense against it
that is why bomb shelters were abandoned by the early 60's

No, not really. I don't think anyone is. I only saw one Bunker in one small town. It was listed in small letters, and gave the occupancy as 271 people. I can imagine those doors will never close given the approximate number of people in that area. I'm kinda tired of press reports on "We're gonna do this to you!" and "We could if we want!" etc. Let's be honest, and I think this goes for most races. People do not care about people anymore. Those who publicly care have a moral suppository up their anus, and a glint of camera flashes in the background. I've seen some wonderful things happen in my life. I wouldn't turn anything back since there are some nice one's about, but not that many. I've in turn helped a good many on the roads I've traveled too, I'm proud of that and will not change. So then, if a flash in the sky it is? Then rest in the knowledge, it will be the last we'll see. The rest will be up to Mothership, don't count that out just yet.
