One of my Judges in my Song-writing contest, happens to be a board member and president of the "El Paso Blues Society" non -profit org.

I did not know this about him, until after he approached me,( following one of my shows) and asked me to join the board of directors for his organization.

Wow! How cool is that? Naturally, I accepted. Tonight, we held a meeting, and I was voted in (unanimously). I am now an official board member.

The benefits are mutual. I just inherited a new tier of professional musician support, whom I shall help to advance the Blues music of El Paso, and who will help me to advance the songwriting (blues genre) contest

As I always say... Its all about the music... and this is definitely a step in the right direction :)

:D

Absolutetly, Mark!

Can you get paid for it? LOL!

Actually Its not as bad as that. The org had a planned Blues Festival for the Summer... I know they invited some bands from Los Angeles, Albuquerque Austin, for that one...
As far as I know, Everyone got paid.

One of my first inputs after I got voted in... was that mentioned about the local venues who are members and dont always pay the talents that the org recommends and grooms. Those venues will likely to be asked to change that if they want to keep a standing in the membership.

Right now, there are maybe 2-3 venues locally who are totally on board with the needs of the musicians.

As I learn more I'll let you know how that booking works...maybe you guys can come to EP and gives us 'What for" on blues/Jazz... I think you guys will raise the roof here ;)

Well If you raised the roof... That would make room for more draw. I wonder what that bone in the leg would sound like with a string :P
