lol that's actually kind of funny.

I can't really even find the words to describe the stupidity of that approach.. it's like yeah.. we're gonna lose, but it won't really be a fair fight, so it doesn't count.

I don't care who wins, the american people are going to lose. But I blame the american people even more than the politicians- for not voting a 3rd party when it's 100% evident that demos and repubs will screw them no matter which one gets elected.

I find this quote sadly amusing:

Between now and then, President Obama and Governor Romney will debate three times. While Governor Romney has the issues and the facts on his side, President Obama enters these contests with a significant advantage on a number of fronts (rhetorica proficiency & experience in presidential debates).

Some of the most talented programmers and math teachers I've studied under were the worst teachers and speakers - primarily because their effort went into their passion. If their qualifications were based on their rhetorical skills, then run for the hills when it's time to hire someone to build us a nuclear reactor.

The President's primary job is communicating - giving speeches, debating, addressing Congress and the U.N., etc. If the candidate is not skilled in these areas or constantly says things that later are retracted or regretted the candidate is most likely not suited for the job.

well said jimmy. i think good communication skills (as demonstrated or NOT in a debate) go beyond mere oratory skills. i believe it also goes to show whether someone is flexible enough to think on their feet. that's a skill i most definitely think the position of president calls for.

Speaking?! Think on their feet?

Article II of the U.S. Constitution:
Before he enter on the execution of his office, he shall take the following oath or affirmation:--"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

SECTION 2.

The President shall be commander in chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the militia of the several states, when called into the actual service of the United States; he may require the opinion, in writing, of the principal officer in each of the executive departments, upon any subject relating to the duties of their respective offices, and he shall have power to grant reprieves and pardons for offenses against the United States, except in cases of impeachment.

He shall have power, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, to make treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, shall appoint ambassadors, other public ministers and consuls, judges of the Supreme Court, and all other officers of the United States, whose appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by law: but the Congress may by law vest the appointment of such inferior officers, as they think proper, in the President alone, in the courts of law, or in the heads of departments.

The President shall have power to fill up all vacancies that may happen during the recess of the Senate, by granting commissions which shall expire at the end of their next session.

SECTION 3.

He shall from time to time give to the Congress information of the state of the union, and recommend to their consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient; he may, on extraordinary occasions, convene both Houses, or either of them, and in case of disagreement between them, with respect to the time of adjournment, he may adjourn them to such time as he shall think proper; he shall receive ambassadors and other public ministers; he shall take care that the laws be faithfully executed, and shall commission all the officers of the United States.

Words and Music by Grant Collinsworth - Copyright (c) 2011
=======================================

I went down to Walmart to buy something cheap;
to furnish a house that I'll never keep.
I got there in a dirty car...
Built on the day that they must have been asleep.

We're living low, to the ground...
They keep holding us down...

I'm living close ...to the ground...
They keep dumbing me down.

Stepped in a bookstore for something to read;
Too many titles for too many needs...
The critics would dictate what we'll write and say
But they're outta work, cause nothing's been said, anyway.

Were living lost in the crowd...
They keep pushing us 'round.

I'm living close ...to the ground...
They keep dumbing me down.

Dumbing me down
Dumbing me down

<solo>

I went down to congress to find some relief;
Too many jokers,idiots and thieves.
They'll beg you for votes and they'll promise to please...
then, fill you with bullshit, til youre down on your knees...

They're selling you out, pound for pound...
They keep clownin' around...
I'm living close ...to the ground...
They keep dumbing me down.

Dumbing us down
Dumbing you down
Dumbing me down.

I just sang it last night on a really cool stage . Will have video up in a few days

Exactly.
Obama is probably gonna win.

But, if a 3rd party gets (I believe) 5% of the popular vote then they are entitled to receive federal funding in the next election. With federal funding, it becomes more difficult to find excuses to exclude candidates from the debates. After all, they're getting the taxpayer's money to be in the election. This was Ralph Nader's primary goal in running for office. He KNEW there was no chance of him becoming president. But, you gotta work at tearing down the many obstacles for the future, incrementally.

I usually vote for third parties when the choice is available, and the republicrats running both suck. If a candidate runs unopposed in a race, I always write-in my own name as a protest to having no choices. If more people had some balls and just voted for what they actually want, instead of the "evil of two lessers", we might make some actual progress again in this country.

Continuing to support this duopoly's fraud of democracy just brings us closer to the bottom. Where does it end? A choice between Stalin or Hitler? No thanks.

No wonder you are so ignorant of what is truly going on in America. You're the biggest carp in the liberal stream of propaganda.

Regardless, I can't fault any lib for being that way, for it has been given to them to believe the lies of this regime. They have been blinded to the truth for a purpose. In their world the sky is green, and the grass is blue, the sun shines at night and the moon rises at dawn.

I very strongly agree. Under the "leadership" of both this country has steadily gone downhill for 50 years. With Romney and Obummer we have two very bad choices. I refuse to help either one weasel his way into office. I'll write in a vote for Joe Walsh or even myself if nothing else, but a vote for either of the current offerings is a vote for more of the same.

The people of this country need to get off their lazy asses and THINK for themselves, and get rid of the current crop of lying, corrupt politicians, and stop sitting there and taking it.

But it will not happen if everybody just sits there and bitches, like they've done for ages.

This country is in the shape it's in because of lying, corrupt, power hungry politicians, but the people who vote for (or against) them have allowed it to happen. Most of our last few presidents should never have been elected twice. The people were too lazy or too brainwashed to vote for someone else. And few decent choices have been available. The two prevailing parties have been effective so far at squeezing other potential parties out of the picture.

I've heard "well, he's the lesser of two evils" so many times it makes me sick. WHY should we only have two evils to choose from? If you know he's "the lesser of two evils" why vote for him at all? Why should either have ever made it far enough to have even a slight chance at the oval office? Because the people voting didn't stop them long before they got there. and because they have become so proficient at brainwashing people that the voters probably don't even realize they are being duped until it's too late. I refuse to do the "lesser of two evils" thing. I'll vote for Mickey Mouse before I'll help either one get into office.

Vote for someone else. Write in someone else, but don't let either of these swine get elected. even if a third party candidate does not make it, if that party at least gets enough attention to be officially recognized, it's a start.
