How'd you end up with WMA files? That's the format that Windows Media Player uses if you copy CDs. It's a lossy format (it compresses to save space), so converting from WMA to MP3 can lose more bits and sometimes result in lousy sound.

You need to convert the files with conversion software like this: http://www.nch.com.au/switch/
or this:
http://www.smartaudioconverter.com/

Sorry, I can't vouch for either one. I use Roxio Creator to capture audio to WAV format from CDs or from internet sources.

well, i've got a super duper convoluted mixdown process. i record to ADAT then mix to minidisc....then it goes over a stand alone cd burner...and THEN into my computer.

picking up noise and compression along the way. i rcvd SONAR LE when i recently bought an ALLEN & HEATH ZED 22FX board. i just need to get off my butt and get on the stick w getting it all figured out.

yes.....i am an old button pushing dinosaur!

thanks mike.

You can always blame them on the file compression loss: "It sounded ok before I converted it!"

I've used this site for a long time and it works really great. No spam, pop-up's or other malicious BS. Also, they don't ask for any $$ or pester you to register or anything.
