I've never seen a candidate unravel so disturbingly, so completely, so quickly.

"There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what," Romney says in one clip. "There are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent on government, who believe that, that they are victims, who believe that government has the responsibility to care for them. Who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing."

Is that not a verifiable statement? The current numbers of people receiving government aid coincide with the numbers supporting Obama.

Normally the country is divided 33/33/33 Dems, Repubs, Mods. But the current economy and cultural slide have shifted those numbers.

I am not a supporter of Romney but, to say he is unraveling quickly is way over the top. There are people who support him, and people who do not, who will still vote against the Marxist come November.

When the debates come along we'll see who unravels. You aren't going to see a Richard Nixon with sweat on his face, that's for sure.

Give me a statistic and I will show you how to assassinate the truth with it.

while handy, unofficial statistics are plaguing the media right now, and that 47/50% one, as well as the "100 million" one are incredible stretches on some vague half-truths on the best days.

Apparently they are measuring it by people who live or have lived in any household that had anyone collect any benefit whatsoever. Even if it's taking advantage of the child tax credit on your tax returns, or using a government program to get a discount on your heart meds. This also includes anyone on social security or medicare, which nearly ALL retired people are on.

The majority of those people paid taxes and SS their whole lives on good faith that the system would take care of them when the time came. They didn't elect to do that, they were forced to do it, and by proxy, forced to go on the system when retired. The few exceptions are people whose jobs offered pensions with benefits, but even most of them are partnered into medicare, and again- not by choice.

Consider that the boomers are ALL retirement age now, the largest portion of our population are retired. Forced to take a government retirement that they paid for their whole lives, yet NOW we call them leechers. I paid into SS my whole life, and I paid into both car and health insurance my whole life and for most of it, I rarely got sick and never had any accidents, yet do you think I paid enough? The greedy corporations sure don't. I get into one small (under $1k) accident and they jack my rate thru the ceiling. My health insurance has so many goddam co-pays and deductibles that I can't even afford to use it, and I'm being called lazy and treated like I expect 'welfare' because I paid into my whole life?

Let's face the truth, we have people with PHD's who are on welfare.. do you really think they worked their ass off through most of their lives to achieve their PHD, only to finally get it and decide that living on welfare is the way to go? NO, they had a plan, they did what they were told by everyone- their parents, society, teachers, that if they worked hard, they would be rewarded (a republicanism that still gets repeated today), where that system, combined with "trickle down" has created nothing but massive wealth for a tiny fraction of our population, and massive poverty for the other 99%.

Obama a marxist? Hah. I wish he were. Him and romney are far worse, actually. Democrats and Republicans both belong to the money party. The money party is the fascist party, and the worst thing you can throw at a people. I'd take communism or socialism or even marxism any day of the week over this crony-capitalism we have today. It does nothing but make rich people richer, and poor people into servants.

Here's a 47% number that should be more important:

Obama is a Marxist. That is his life.

I'm not going to argue the notion corruption exists in every direction, but to know anything of history and say you would take communism over what little freedom and liberty we have left in this nation is unbelievable to me. No nation in history has been free of corruption and a majority getting the shaft. Just the way sin works, if you look at things from a biblical worldview. But choosing total government control over our lives? Lying, thieving, corrupt politicians? My God, what are you thinking?

I hope you don't play punk rock with a political message.

So the Demoncrats are flipping out again because someone told the truth. The only thing that this shows is how desperate this regime and the lib media are to make up dirt about someone who isn't a liar. This only proves that Dems hate truth so much that every time they hear it they try to vilify it. :) :)

It should also be stated regardless of how people became dependent on government, forced or otherwise, they have become dependent.

SS, Medicaid, Medicare, Unemployment, Welfare. Those five entitlement programs use what, 60% of the federal budget now?

And communism will help that? How?

ohhhhh mah gawd!

".you hold up romney and ryan as telling the 'truth'???? "

How is the statement made by Romney that the media is salivating over not the truth?

What lies has Ryan stated? Examples?

Politicians lie like they breathe, the vast majority of them. I suppose the difference is which ones will use their lies just to get elected, and which ones add to that by growing the federal government's intrusion into American's lives.

let's start here:

Paul Ryan’s brazen lies
His Republican National Convention speech was stunning for its dishonesty

BY JOAN WALSH

His most brazen lie accused President Obama of “raiding” Medicare by taking the exact same $716 billion that Ryan and the House GOP notoriously voted to slash. It was stunning.

But that’s not all. He attacked Obama for failing to keep open a Janesville GM plant that closed under Bush in 2008. He hit him for a credit-rating downgrade that S&P essentially blamed on GOP intransigence. He claimed that all taxpayers got from the 2009 stimulus was “more debt,” when most got a tax cut (and the stimulus is known to have saved between 1.4 and 3.3 million jobs). He derided the president for walking away from the Simpson Bowles commission deficit-cutting recommendations when Ryan himself, a commission member, voted against those recommendations.

He blamed Obama for a deficit mostly created by programs he himself voted for – from two wars, tax cuts, new Medicare benefits and TARP.

And of course, he riffed on the tired central lie of the GOP convention: that the president said “government gets the credit” for small businesses, not the business owners themselves.

Other than that, it was a great speech.

Interestingly, for all his lies, Ryan didn’t repeat the Romney camp’s false claim that Obama did away with the welfare system’s work requirements. Maybe he ran out of time.

Ryan got off a few good zingers: “College grads shouldn’t have to live out their 20s in childhood bedrooms, staring up at fading Obama posters.” He didn’t mention that he opposed legislation to keep student loan rates from doubling. His remarks about his childhood were slightly moving. He talked about losing his father at 16, and he called his mother, who went back to school and to work after that, his role model. But he never mentioned the Social Security death benefits that let him go to an out-of-state school. Occasionally he seemed to be going after swing voters, rather than his hard-right base, taking a more in sorrow than anger tone about Obama’s failings. Then he’d mix things up with nastiness and lies.

my point is that we are a fascist nation now. Whether or not the general public realizes yet is inconsequential at this point in the game.

Communism, well yeah it sucks, but still a better alternative when you really look at it. Not that I want either.. It was more of a comparitive statement, not a statement of desire.

I actually dont know what I would prefer, but clearly after a few hundred years, monarchies and democracies with capitalism don't work. We are financially enslaved now, and with that will soon be a comeback of indentured servitude, something that is a black-stain in our past.

I dictatorships could work so long as the dictator is a nice guy and not a war-monger lol. But you always gotta worry about the next guy... yikers.

I guess a good socialist or nationalist system could really work well, but despite it's good intentions and the fact that socialism has worked well in europe and is working wonders in the latin and south america regions, it's been through a smear campaign since bush II took office.. another pre-emptive strike to make sure the status-quo in the USA stays the status-quo.

Well played.. I'll give them that.
