Hey guys, wanted to share with you my latest creation - a new rock demo I been working on this week. I wrote and recorded all the instruments on this one (except for the drums that are just programmed), obviously a pretty long guitar solo is included. Id love to hear your feedback for this one.

Sounds good, but the bass is a little fuzzy - was this recorded with mic/amp or DI? Sounds like it might have been clipping? I'd do something with the drums - nothing wrong with a drum track, just lacking a bit of 'feel' - are you using software or a drum machine? I throw a 'humanizer' on my EZ Drummer tracks.

nice effort. two suggestions.

1. from around 1:50 to 2:30 there's no melody going on....for my tastes that's a little long to go w/o melody or singing or something to maintain interest.

2. you might consider starting some of your phrases on other beats besides the "one". seems most or all of your phrases start there.

There is a bit of clipping at the bass, it kind of gives a bit of distorted bass feel, which I like. The drums are written in Guitar Pro with no humanizing effect, will definately use that the next time.

I have a friend who already wrote pretty awesome vocal lines for this, and that section is meant to be chorus. As for this recording- Im quite excited about the bass line and the rhytm guitar playing there(slightly different guitar tracks panned left and right) so I wanted some attention on that too.
I didnt quite understood the second thing you wrote, could you explain it?

i was referring to where you start your lead gtr lines/riffs/phrases/musical sentences.

there are four beats (quarter note) in 4/4 time. one-two-three-four.

or if you count in eight notes... one-and-two-and-three-and-four-and.

a line/phrase/riff can start (and end) on any of those beats. seems like most of your phrases start on the first beat (one) of each measure.

nothing wrong w doing that some of the time but after awhile it can get a little too predictable.

does that make sense?

The first post has the full song(though it doesnt has the lyrics&vocal lines my friend wrote after I recorded that) , thats just the solo section.

Recorded with a phone? Your lead is buried in the sound for the first half. The song (on video) just fizzles out? Where was the gig?

Yeah, actually the Iphone did better than I expected it. I played in a bar on an open stage night(the drummer actually just heard the song on Youtube and never jammed with us before), the bar was full and people seemed to like us. On the video it just fades out, I think Ill do the fade out when I record the full song, but you never know.

Where was the open mic? I'm from Mass, too.

My country wasnt listed so I just picked my favorite state, sorry if this confused anyone.
