I'm at a loss to figure out what the issue really is here. The article seems to suggest that the issue is that the dems are just pushing the same agenda as the reps.

I've said it a zillion times, there's no real difference to the two major parties, they both serve the same corporate masters.

And frankly, I don't know why people waste so much time arguing about it. Total waste of time. I dont' waste my time bitching about things I don't care for, especially when all the media ON BOTH SIDES just lie, conjecture, and manipulate information to prove their point. I'm over it.

I rarely get in on political discussions, but since this one is so far going along peacefully...

Let's look at the overall picture. This country is headed for hell in a handbasket, both sides have been at the helm, it's not gotten any better.

So what actually is the problem?

Career politicians cater to big business, ignoring the PEOPLE, who they are actually supposed to be working for.

Big business has been abusing the ability to lobby congress for ages, at the expense of you and me. Especially in the area of taxes. We pay the bulk of the tax bill, not those who can actually afford it. Corporations pay little or no taxes. Many super rich individuals pay little or none.

And last but certainly not least, WE the PEOPLE have not had the gumption to step up and rid ourselves of these corrupt, lying politicians who made this possible, instead we continue to re-elect the same people who have already been proven corrupt liars. People who have already proven they are not doing their job, which is to work for the good of the people of this country.

So what's the solution?

Well, my favorite, is open season on politicians, about 3 weeks a year, doe day on Thursday, bag limit 3.

But that's not a realistic solution...unfortunately..so..

1. We have the right, and the obligation to impeach any and all elected officials who do not do what is in the better interest of the public. Get together people, and impeach these bastards. Starting at the top.

2. Eliminate the ability of corporations to lobby congress. They have proven long ago they will abuse that privelige.

3. Stop electing liars. Stop electing anyone even suspected of corruption.

4. Limit all political careers to 8 or 10 years. Once you hit that time limit you can no longer enter any ballot for any elected position, ever. Period.

Democrats and republicans are both guilty as hell, they are loyal only to dollar bills. The people of this country do not have the lobbying power, which costs lots of dollar bills, to stop or even slow down any and all legislation backed by corporate dollars. Which always benefits corporations, and usually at our expense.

Both parties have gotten us into and kept us in wars wherever they can find one for many years, usually where we have no business being. Viet Nam is still a sore spot for a lot of people and a great example.

Both parties have gotten us into this, and I don't think we've seen an alternate political party that would do anything different. The names may change, but the result will be the same, until career politicians are out of the white house and so are corporations.

That's not the whole story, it goes a lot deeper, but that is a good start.

We're also seeing a huge tendency toward a global economy. Do you think global government does not follow? Any politician who is rich enough to run for president can be automatically assumed to be also looking for power. Money and power and greed go hand in hand, and once a person has enough money and power to make it to the oval office, you can bet he wants to rule the world too. Any politician who denies that is a liar.

I have little doubt many in the upper levels of US government see the trend toward global economy and power, and are doing everything they can to make sure when the time is right, the US steps up as a world government. It's not just here at home we're dealing with any more. And what happens when the same greedy, corrupt dishonest politicians are in a position to form a world government? Take a look at our country for the past 30 years or so.

I've always had one question that I would like to see some of our so called officials answer...If you people are good enough businessmen to make millions and even billions for yourselves, how do you manage to let our country go broke????

Eliminate career politicians, eliminate corporate lobby, impeach and prosecute corrupt, lying politicians. and repeal a bunch of legislation that is not beneficial to the general public.

Palopete,
I agree with your ideals, but certainly you also realize that none of your solutions are even possible with the current system- we cannot impeach the president, only congress can. We can't even nominiate or elect whoever we want! The corporate party controls electorate through the two major parties, and politicians are vetted from the very beginning of their careers.

We get told WHO we can choose from, and all are carefull hand-picked corporate candidates, even on the local, city, state, and federal levels, it's all the same process.

There IS a solution, and that is the green party- you said all the parties stand for greed and corruption, but the green party stands on a populoist and non-corporate platform, and more to the point, they actually live up to their charter. Not one green candidate has accepted a corporate or PAC dollar. Not one. Not one green candidate has ever voted against his/her publically stated agenda.

They are a party of truth, and frankly the only way out of this mess we're in. It's not a wasted vote- In fact, voting for anyone in the corporate party is a wasted vote IMO, and borderline treason to vote for a candidate that you KNOW will support the 1% fascist police state that is upon us.

Jill Stein is on the ballot in almost every state. Her platform is stated and easy to read. She doesn't flip flop and is a consumer and environmental advocate. She can't possibly be worse than obama or romney. Why throw away a vote on those two? It's like voting for a giant douchebag vs. a turd sandwich (yes, great south park reference).
