I'm recording at home right now. I was actively gigging last year before my bass player was killed. It also nearly broke my wallet having to pay to play, and when you play at the free places, no one wants to go there. So I'm just going to record and do videos and sell those.

You know lady it sounds like you have a marketing problem and you are still dealing with the loss of your friend. I been there too.
I'm going to tell you have to change your strategy a bit. Free gigs are cool to rehearse in front of people if you need too. If not,,, GET OUT AND BE A CAPITALIST. Remember... The more money you make, the more you have to share. The next time someone says we can't afford you,, remember to remind them that what selfish pigs they are.
I just don't understand what is holding you guys back. Come on Chaeya go out and rip it up.
I have faith in you....

George same for me. We do covers and originals in The Farleys. I'm also forming a classic rock band that will do the cool non-cliche tunes that no one else will do. When people will have me I do solo acoustic act as well.

let's see....
i'm in a duo that performs probably 80-90% originals (though we could easily play three sets of originals.
i'm in a bluegrass group that plays 75% covers though it's not like R&R covers where we're trying to cover parts and sound like the record...lot's of improv there.
i'm in a jazz group that plays all originals
another jazz group that plays our takes on standards, does some zydeco, a little bit of jump, and some blues. no originals
and i play solo instrumental gtr...probably 75% orig and the rest my goofy takes on tunes.
all these are gigging deals

You left out the category I'd check off: loser songwriter, bass / guitar player who just screwed up his fourth shot at doing some original work in the last two years.
But I'm a believer. As long as the muse drops songs in my head, Early Times keeps making whiskey, and I keep breathin' oxygen, it's gonna keep happening.

Got a new blues/rock band together, first gig this past Saturday, next one this Saturday. Not sure of my health these days though. Getting tests done, lots of dizziness. Maybe I? Just getting old....

Bob, check your blood pressure - it could be too high OR too low. It could be vertigo. I get dizzy spells often. I go to the doctor and they never find anything. It's still worth checking out.

Hey Bob, dizziness and vertigo symptoms are pretty common as we get into late 40s and 50s caused by BPPV. My wife and I both had it at different times and both were cured with the Epley maneuver . This is something you can do at home and it works.
What it is:

How to correct it:

If your symptoms are consistent with this, give it a try.

Kramer Im playing covers with my old band Aint Yo Mama!
We play out roughly every 6 weeks, which is plenty for all of us at this point.
Im actually playing a lot on my own, not really doing anything just keeping the ole chops up.
