I was singing a song the other day "All The Things You Are" by
Johnny Mathis. It was one of those times when I was just on my game.
I had power, expression, volume, great pitch. GOD it felt GOOD.

Have you ever had that expereince with what you play?

Back in the day, I thought the band always sounded
incredible after the 2nd set, and we all got together
and smoked a fattie in the parking lot, rush back in
and get a Crown and 7 and start the 3rd set, pure
magic.

Yeah I wish I could find a pianist that was into that style.
I would be so stoked.[/b]

Lots of times. It always takes me by surprise. It only happened once, but I played a lead one night long ago that took the band by surprise and they almost fell apart just trying to watch me, forgot they were supposed to be playing too...we saved it, I didn't know what was going on and just cued them to fade everything out. I did a quick "open" solo, brought the song back and we wrapped it up. Then I found out later what happened...they were so blown away by the guitar I was doing, beyond what I could usually do, they started paying attention to me and just lost it...we laughed about it later, but it could have been a disaster if we hadn't been on our toes.

I barely managed to catch on, I had just ignored everything and let my fingers do whatever they wanted, I was lost in it too, "in the zone" as they say. So I was as guilty as they were...I barely caught on...

Damn, I haven't thought about that in years...
