Olympic coverage...

There are going to be 302 different events happening in the Olympics in london 2012. Why does the network only cover a handful? It seems like we've been getting mainly swimming, gymnastics, and beach volleyball with only a few others thrown in once in a while. Then they have the "human interest" stories about how an Olympic athlete had to "struggle against the odds" to make it on the team. And why do they show the preliminary events? It's obviously about the money, ratings. There are so many really exciting sports that get no coverage especially if no American has a chance to medal.

I don't think they're is any exciting
sports to watch, olympics or otherwise.

Get out and move, movers move, watchers watch

If I was to watch any it would be women's beach
volleyball, not for the sport, but to look at the
athletes.

I saw a little men's (indoor) volleyball at lunchtime today, and kayaking the other night.
It's all about the sponsorship money, don't kid yourself. NBC pays huge amounts for the rights, then has to sell the time to advertisers - who are only going to pay for the events they are interested in.

I watched some of the mens volleyball at lunch also, they are kicking ass.

Hey Lynard when I saw the womens beach volleyball they had them covered up with wet suits, LOL! I told my wife they must have made them wear that, she said you only watch if for the swim suits! LOL! Shoulda kept my mouth shut.

I enjoy watching some of the swimming, and I appreciate having raced motorcycles for so long, how much committment it takes for folks to compete at that level.

All the BS around it aside, Im proud of our athletes, they just need to stay off twitter til they are back home!

If they made "Wipe Out" an Olympic sport I would watch. But that other stuff is too boring.

I am personally disgusted that the Olympics have sold out to professional athletes.

Defeats the whole intent and purpose behind the Olympic Games IMO.

I see bits and pieces at work or when visiting in others homes.

Don't believe it has been on my TV at all.

I Hate to admit it...but America, Russia and China set the Pace on this, when we sent in that dream team to kick some asses in basketball back some years ago. We are culpable in that we have "win or Nothing" attitude.
The original Olympics was all about the agenda of mutual engagement of sport and the camaraderie it breeds. Not the agenda of winning or losing.

What about those American women playing beach
volleyball! Yeah,..... I thought the Spanish girls did
a fine job also.
Remember it's not whether you win or lose, but
how good you look in a bikini......
Edge the American girls.

No, but now I'm determined to get a look
at their team. I think I've finally found a sport
I can enjoy watching. :)

YEP!

Those American girls are really not all that attractive to me.
I guess as I have gotten old and soft I prefer a little more curvature in my women.

But they can damn sure play some volleyball.
