 hello fellow musicians, I have been singing since the age of 15 everything from funk, to jazz and some blues... I quit performing around 7 years ago when I married but I am really thinking I would love to do something locally and start singing again... Im really thinking my voice has got a lower range now but the strength is still there.. I am an I.E girl and sang with many of the local bands here and there, heres to name a few.
Sonny Daye " Sly Slick and Wicked
Liquid Smoke
Heart and Soul
Lil Bit of Soul
Thee Mad Latins..
So call me I got soul in my blood and it's tired of sitting around.. LOL [/b]

Rochelle, good luck to you. my advise would be to put up some examples (recordings) of you singing on your player here on bm then direct interested people from craigslist and such to your site here. Be patient the music biz has changed. There are a lot of flakey types and it takes the patience of a saint to get what you want. It is possible because there are a lot of bands looking for a good singer!

Rochelle,

I don't know anything about bands...sorry, but I really enjoyed your pics you posted.

I would love to hear you, hope you can post a recording or a vid on your page.

Good luck to you!

It is doable.

I reinvented myself about 7 years ago. Been out of it for ten / fifteen years or so (other than playing a bit for fun), and there have been lots of changes. Thanks in part to BM I've played with rather a lot of people and have written a bunch of new songs.

Also lots of stuff going on. The creativity of original bands has actually blossomed while the once despised cover band players have matured into a level of playing where damn good is the new normal. (there are several on this forum and they have it wired tight)

the other primary difference I noiticed was the technology - I quickly learned I'd have to count on myself - a tragedy! 8)

So why not eh? Singers are ALWAYS in demand.

Good luck

Talbot

Good luck getting back into 'the scene'. As others have said, get some music posted, either MP3s or videos so others can hear your talents. These days there are so many people looking for personnel for their bands or trying to form bands, that you will get overlooked if peopel can't hear what you do right away.
I know for myself it was frustrating auditioning people who didn't have music posted anywhere.

Rochelle, get out there and beat the streets,
to find some like minded musicians, that you can
call friends and make your own music.

I haven't heard of many hookups (to perform live),
coming of this BM forum page. And I wouldn't even
mess with craigslist.

Decide what you want to do, and do it, have a plan
or method of attack. It'll be easier than chasing your
dream blindly. If it's going to be a business how about
a business plan, than you know your goals and what
you have to do to achieve them.

Good Luck

Rochelle I turn 50 this year, 5 years ago I did a comeback and have been having the time of my life with it.

I would try first to hook up with old band mates that you have history with if they are still playing, thats what I did.

I auditioned for other groups sat in with a bunch did all sorts of stuff, but I wound back up with guys I had played off and on with for 30+ years.

Good Luck

What doesn't work for you, may work for others. The Beatles tribute band I'm with now connected through CL. So did the acoustic thing (they messaged me overnight), and I just sent an email this morning to another acoustic act advertising.
CL won't necessarily work by itself, but in conjunction with haveing some good music posted online that people can sample, it can!
