OK, looking around on the site this weekend... I realize that very few ppul have music posted... what's the dealio? Do you need help? Pretty much anyone with a computer has almost all they need to post so what's up? If you have a guitar amp... look for a line out and get a 1/8 inch to 1/4 inch adapter from radio shack! You may not get full duplex, but you'll get recorded! Otherwise take yer tape recording of yer band... put it in a tape player, get 2rca to stereo 1/8 jack and yer there. yeah, it's not preamped right but this is free exposure ppul!!!!!
I kinda feel like I'm at a nude beach and everyone is showing up dressed.
So with that in mind "take it off! take it all off!"

WILL BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO HELP ANYONE WHO NEEDS HELP GETTING MUSIC ON COMPUTER... JUST SAY THE WORD.
FYI, these days you can find a decent soundcard for $20. You can get a cheap mixer for less than $50. look for the yamaha fm04, or the midiman mixer. Cmon now!

Seriously, why do so few ppul have music posted?

They sure don't allow you much space to post music here.
I had 3 songs posted. Yesterday, when I posted that humerous song, "Rufus the Dufus," I had to delete a couple songs first.
Today, I went to post a song of mine, "The 4th Emotion." The copyright had just come back to me, on Saturday, and there was a bunch of people who wanted to hear it.
This was before you joined.
(If you or anyone else is/are interested in the history of this, check on old posts - look for "What do you call this chord?" or something like that . . . It was the first chord of the song, on the 11th fret. It went into music theory, and lasted several pages . . . Pretty cool, actually . . . )
.
ANYWAY . . .
.
Ok, so I had 2 songs left on my profile, now.
And, as promised, I wanted to post the song from the thread I was just talking about.
I deleted one song, Molasses Blues, just leaving me the single song I posted Yesterday.
But - there's STILL not enough room for a second song!

. . . not enough room for even 2 dang songs!
They only give you 5Mbytes space total, But the average song is at least 3MB!
So - unless it's short - they only let you post ONE song here . . .
So, I posted it on Uniting Bands, instead. They allow you 5 Mbytes PER SONG, and FOUR songs, free . . .
I'll probabably erase "Rufus the Dufus" and post "The 4th Emotion" here in a few days . . .
Geeez , , ,

hey zito... heard your tune. nice gtrsynth. you probably knew this one wasn't my style but it def shows you def have some chops. I like the part where your guitar comes in(not synthgit). I'm guessing there was some music shcool in there somewhere for you... which one? Intro may be a hair long in my opinion. if yer gonna use synthetic drums you should consider getting a sampler and getting some nice jazz kits. All in all, very nice.

I just posted mine. I just started recording this week and hear a lot of problems from pitch to timing. :-) Well, if you have any suggestions of what I need to do to improve anything let me know. Thanks for listening and I have 4 more of my songs posted at www.purevolume.com/clintmurphy

(The nude beach analogy is funny because I think I feel just as awkward listening to myself sing as I would getting nude in front of strangers.)

Well...your voice is much better than mine and it doesn't sound like you miss the pitch that I can tell...well actually it sounds like a professional recording to me. What others have said seems to say everything, I don't have anything to add other that what others have said. (And I wouldn't add potty humor... lol ) Of course now that I am thinking about it...I do think that you don't need to raise the vocals at all like I heard some people saying...but you do seem to have to work on pronunciation or annunciation or projection...I am not really sure. I can't even figure out what I hate so much about my voice. I can't stand to listen to what I have recorded. lol Anyway, great job and I think you just need to keep on the track you are on.

thank you sir. good call on anunciation. I think this recording is more muddled than most cause of the rev but I've notice that on other recordings of myself too. AFA hating yer own voice... to a certain extent that is natural. We all hate our own. I def hate mine... but you learn to forget that when performing... it's all you can do. I allways remember if bob dylan could do it... damn near anyone can! (and I love bob!)

Clint, it's a nice song; not too shabby at all for your first week.
:)
Don't worry about your voice or anything. The more you work with anything, the better it gets. Every kind of voice imaginable has sold records, huh?
Let me suggest that you back off on the bass a bit, though, ok? It can overwhelm the guitar & vocals. I ran into the same thing when I started recording on the computer. I quickly learned not to go by the volume settings in the software - bass will nearly always come through.
And, if they want, people can always crank the bass later . . .
I usually ask for a 2nd opinion before I convert to an Mp3. And usually wind up changing something for the better.
Check out the bass on my "Molasses Blues. " The song is under 2MB, so it's a quicker download.
Or, if you want something hotter than the blues, Listen to "The 4th Emotion." The bass really kicks in on the 2nd verse.
Let me know what you think.
And - keep recording . . .

Hey thanks for the comments. Now I do appreciate your opinion...but the one thing I know is that I am always wishing the bass was louder in almost every band I listen to. So, for my personal tastes the bass is just right. lol I know, most people do not share my feelings on the matter as most people view the bass as just a supporting instrument. But, that is me and I like it that way. lol

But yeah...I don't know about my voice getting better...but I think a big part of it is that when I listen to professional recordings I hear the effects they put on the vocals. I have tried a lot of the effects that my software has and I have tried fooling with the options in the effects and the eq. But in the end I haven't found an effect that compliments my vocals. Every effect that I have tried, in my opinion makes my vocals actually sound worse. So, hopefully I will find something. :-)

Oh...and do you think that song sounds floydish? It was intended to, but it reminded me of it when I listened to it. Just curious. Also, did you check out any of my songs on my purevolume site? The song on here is the latest attempt at recording and I was wondering if I was getting better or not.

Clint, you say, ". . .most people view the bass as just a supporting instrument."
Yeah, unfortunately, you're right.
But - listen to "The 4th Emotion," and you'll find a song where the bass is almost indespensible; it's half the song . . .
Hook up with me on myspace; http://www.myspace.com/alanbradleygroup
and check out "Red - Descending Boogie," and you'll hear another song that HAS to have the bass. It's right up your alley, dude . . . give a listen . . .

Hi Mike,

I missed this reply of yours. The only music school I had was Junior High and High school along with some good teachers.

That was prior to my playing guitar. I don't think I started playing guitar till I was 16 or 17.

I learned alot of what not to do on my own. I studied with Carmine D'Amico in the beginning. He's played on alot of suff you've heard.

I've learned alot from trying to learn jazz harmony and melody.

Cheers,
Matt
btw - I agree with your comments on that tune.
