Periodically I take an opportunity to rant, especially when I've had another "Bad Band" experience over this past week-end. I received a telephone call last week from a Band wanting me to play keyboards with them. They live 77 miles from me. I was told about their excellent vocals(lead and harmonies), also about their awsome Bass player. Their song list was definately my forte.
Once I arrived on the scene, while listening to overheard conversations, I became aware of the lead singers criminal record. And, the Bass player is an active "pentecostal preacher" with his own church. The drummer was the preachers young son.
I felt that we were sounding pretty good. The sound was mixed well, good balance.
After the first set, the lead singers younger brother came to the stage somewhat inebriated. He had decided that our sound needed to be adjusted. His older brother, the lead singer said, yeah, let him work on it. Because he is a good sound man.
That's when our sound went to "Hell"!! And, it only went down hill from there.
Oh yeah, and I must mention. We were playing in a Bar. One of this Bands good friends, stopped by with his 13 year old son in tow. The 13 year old was brought on stage(twice) as a guest guitarist, and vocalist.
