Greetings, Everyone!
Greetings!
It's been awhile since I've been here, about five months or so, I believe.
I'm not going to lie or make up some kind of elaborate story. I basically had a week (when I first disappeared) where a bunch of crazy stuff went down, and I really have no excuse for not stopping by after that.
It's a pretty crazy life, but I'm a complete @$$hole for not dropping by for that amount of time. You guys have treated me too kindly on here for me to disappear for so long, so I apologize.
In terms of updates, I don't really have much.
I joined a band that never actually got around to naming itself for a few months, but I got sick of it because guys would continually miss practice (I think in twenty scheduled practices, we had the full roster twice) and it was just ridiculous. I was the newest member of the band, so they all turned on me and tried to put it on my schedule (which is unusual, granted) even though I made every single scheduled practice.
The crazy part of it is that I told them EXACTLY what my schedule was going to be going in. I wrote it down. It didn't seem that any of them had a problem with it, then, but then when I start complaining because we can't get the full compliment of members together for even two practices in a row, the whole thing is my fault.
I guess I am going to learn guitar. I found an 1985 Aria Pro II RS Knight Warrior guitar at a yard sale today for $20. It seemed like a good deal. Maybe one of you guys will know if it is a good guitar. It's heavier than most guitars I have held.
I haven't really been writing any lyrics recently because the semi-band I was in wanted to basically be exclusively a cover band, so I haven't bothered. It's a very strange thing, because I have a greater interest in music when I am not in a band, sometimes. I'm a little bummed because it seemed like that band was going to be a decent fit. The bassist was an @$$hole, but everyone else was fine. He missed fifteen practices out of twenty, and when I suggested we look into a replacement bassist, you'd have thought I asked them to stab their mothers. I guess they're all friends and have been for a long time.
It was basically just a situation where I was the outsider. No fun. The lead guitarist of that band was quite a good singer, but he said he gets really nervous when he tries to sing in front of a crowd (unless it is back-up) and screws up way too much. I got along with him the best. He made every practice and took it the most seriously. I told him he should try to overcome his nervousness before I left the last time and move over to the microphone if he didn't want to do both. He's a better singer than he is a guitarist. Great natural voice. He's not a better singer than I am, but VERY easily could be.
How have you guys been?
