What's your favorite synth sounds whether they come from a keyboard, or drum machine? Some examples are the bass heard in Lucky Star, any sort of beautiful bell like piano sounds (Didn't We Almost Have It All, Open Your Heart), and warm pads/synth strings. For drum sounds, I love the synthesized handclaps (sometimes gunshots) heard in some songs. For example, check out Lucky Star by Madonna, I Wanna Dance With Somebody by Whitney Houston, and For Your Entertainment by Adam Lambert. Bold drum sounds are pretty cool too, like the ones heard in Open Your Heart.

I'm old school. Synth is great for background vibe, intro, and outro.
Other than that, let your strings, horns, and percussionist do his / her parts.
As for drum machines they are great for woodshed rehearsal and learning good meter without the tediousness of a metronome.
But they have no heart or soul, and do not belong in live music.

Ok, really? I'm all for opinion, but I would really love to talk to more keyboard players here, and those who are more like Adam Lambert, or David Archuleta, who can appreciate good synth.

Do you start threads just so you can be an ass?
You asked ... I answered.

I don't start threads so I can be an ass. I start threads so I can talk to other people like myself. But the wrong people always seem to respond.
For example, when I want to talk with other guys who like playing around with synthesizers, I end up reaching people who think guitars are the badass instrument, and who despise synth.

Stop responding, and maybe they will come. Give them a chance. This is still a casual conversation topic, but please, leave hate out of it.

I am fine with opinion, but if that person is going to post his distaste for a certain style, or instrument, that's just rude. I don't go to subjects or topics I don't care for, and post on those. I try to participate in topics where I can actually have decent conversations.

NO, YOU guys act like dicks and piss people off who like pop and soft rock music and express your distaste for artists who don't play your kind of music which a lot of you consider to be better than another person's style.

I use an incredible amount of synthetic sounds and drum programming, but I marry these sounds with acoustic sounds much of the time.
I think the amount of time I spend tweaking these sounds really separate them from sounding like typical synth crap. But of course I am my biggest fan!

See? There you go again! Responding to topics and showing hate for pure electronic music, and viewing your music as superior to mine.
"Lead Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Dobro"
I don't see ANY love for the keyboard!
