Folks can celebrate the holiday and thank veterans in their own way. This is supposed to be a music-related forum.

To be precise, this holiday is about celebrating the independence of our country, not about giving thanks to our veterans. We have Veteran's Day and Memorial Day for that. Jeez, next you'll want us thanking them on Valentine's Day. But if it will make you happy, thanks vets for your sacrifice.

I am very greateful for most everything this country did for me. I did do 20 years in the U. S. Army and participated in seven conflicts.

I am very selfish; My wife, my family my American Freedom and everything I own are mine and you or anybody else can't have it.

and yes I am a ASSHOLE because most people in this country forgot or don't have a clue what the words "respect or work ethics REALLY MEAN.

It is about Life, Liberty, Freedom of Oppression of Speech and Religion. It is about Our Founding Fathers Laying it Down to the World That We ain't Takin' No sh*t from Outsiders. It is about we as a Nation, Make this Great Nation as IT IS and ARE PROUD TO BE A PART OF IT. Those that would rather be somewhere else are welcome TO LEAVE. Those that have Defended Those Rights mentioned above Keep This Great Country-Great! You have the Freedom to think of those protectors of those Rights. For those that want to hold their Ideas to thoughts, You Have The RIGHT to REMAIN SILENT.

I wonder if the American Indians had an Independence Day of some kind.
History is full of Independence Days for many humans. Basically they all
are battles of humans against humans over ideals that they are
willing to die for. Dieing for a worthy cause is justified if it is for the
greater good.

The root problem with all this Independence is that eventually a
negative evolves from it and a new Independence is sought. To some
this may be evident in our own Country. Division of peoples through
parties and ideals is an evolution far from the original Independence.
Whatever party or ideal harnesses the dominant power and influence
will sway equality and head the opposed toward wanting new Independence.

I am indeed ungrateful. What have they defended us from? Our soldiers are good men serving a bitterly corrupt set of masters.

We are at war, I'm told. But our borders are wide open. Right wing conservatives are call by DHS 'the greatest threat we face.'
Don't trust me on that, read this:
http://www.infowars.com/homeland-securi ... errorists/

So what are we fighting for? And why should I be grateful? I ask that as a serious question. because it looks to me like the US govt is fighting US!

They say we must fight ''them" over there or the war will come here. I submit that 30,000 drones offered to local police departments means we are already fighting here, and the enemy is any one who values freedom.

I respect the soldiers because I believe (from talking to many) that they went off thinking they were fighting for freedom or to avenge 9/11. But many are waking up. Ron Paul has more support among soldiers than ALL the other candidates put together.

Sorry, but the facts are the facts.
