Persistance is needed. Keep working on your own chops while you search. Use every method - Craigslist, bulletin boards at local music stores, online sites, visit clubs/bars - and keep looking.

Open mics are awesome if you can find one near you. I've met a ton of musicians & contacts that way. It's a great way to show fellow musicians that you're able to entertain.

I would suggest going to places that play the genre of music you are interested in. Craigslist is another, and just local music stores, the sales guys ask them who they know that plays your style, and then the guitar or drum tech guys.

Make up a little business card with all your contact info, and give it to these people you meet and tell them to let others know about you and what you want to do, you are going to have to get out and get with people that are doing whatever it is you want to do.

Good Luck

After all the bullshiit things you wrote, you have the pride to take down your one garage band song played on a ten dollar garage sale keyboard and come back with your tail sticking all the way around into your mouth.

YOU ARE JOKING?

You are so far beyond help, I am going going to direct you to MrGlambert.

I'm getting tired of guys like you. Can't play? Don't tell everyone here how much better you are and don't BULLSHIIT!

You know there seems to be a tendency on this board with old timers to just rip new folks apart, I know the music business is tough and you have to have very very thick skin, but shouldnt a site like this be about trying to help folks improve and about giving them a positive direction instead of just cutting the sh*t out of them?

Not that it matters to me one way or the other, or change my world in any way, but good grief, if you aint got something halfway nice to say then just shut the f**k up!

Here here John! Since I started using the ignore feature I don't see the negativity. I agree, help the youngsters, they're the future lol.

To the original poster, move to a big city ASAP. You can't throw a stone in Detroit without hitting a musician, and there's a lot of folks into death/metal/industrial/goth/punk around here.

I missed that Dog. If he wants to attempt to make friends that would be a whole different story.
