First this is not my favorite genre of music. I can appreciate the raw power, but I think I just figured out what bothers me the most.
It is the incessant minor key with mixolydian fills and or solos. It has become so predictable it kills the excitement of what you metal guys are are trying to do.
Funny thing is that your song 'Turn my back' I can hear the raw power that was coming out of the late sixties, and you have some great licks going on.
I'm left waiting for a great solo to really RIP the whole song open. You left me hanging,,,,
As far as the mix, you made one major mistake by not bringing the vocals up. I'm trying to help you cause you have some good things going on.
VOCALS MUST ALWAYS BE UP!
Not a poorly written song, keep trying.
As far as 'Blind sided' all of the above except, I don't understand why all of you metal guys feel the need to insert some guitar rhythmic trip that brings or breaks up the context of the song.

Just trying to share a different POV. Otherwise not bad, keep on!

I enjoyed them. It's nice to be able to sit back in my chair and put the headphones on and hear some soothing music for a change. 8)

Cheers for the feedback guys :)

Glenny - I fear we may not agree musically on a few things haha. I think everything you dislike about metal is what draws us metal guys in the first place. It's all part of the overall sound, much like pop, jazz, etc., have their cliches ;) Rhythmic trips, mixolydian (blame my love of Alice in Chains) etc..just my cup of tea!! I did take the licks to a slightly different place I think on Turn My Back and we have some other tracks that go this route, but I likes the metulz too ;)

As for the vox, funny thing is, the rest of the band and several other mix guys (into different genres) told me to turn them down a bit, hence their current level...they were right up originally heh heh.

Solowise, there's a few reasons why they aren't really there. I'm the only guitarist in the band and we find the sound just drops out too much when solo's kick in live (kinda the opposite effect of having them)...could be I just ain't that good and I prefer rhythm these days. Would love another guitarist in the band but the hassle another member brings (availibility for gigs, band politics, etc.) just ain't worth it.
