Do you see what's going on with Facebook? I'm pullling the plug on their sh*t this weekend. It's a privacy invading scam at best IMO.

Bob, FB has been invading our privacy ever since AOL invaded people's privacy... Even this forum invades privacy... There is really no escaping it...
Legit sites with subscription content are bound by Privacy Act, etc to protect PI (Personally Identifiable information) which, when otherwise assembled by a thief, would pinpoint you and provide access to critical information (i.e Financial). Beyond that... They will use your information primarily to market and monetize. The key componant that gets marketed is Image files (Obviously) .

When you subscribed, you agreed to grant "Non exclusive rights" to the site. Translated, (So I gave been told) It essentially means that they will never dispute your ownership of the material in question, but that they have the right to use it to promote their interest (site wise) and not have t0 provide you with royalties , fees and penalties)

Paper, the fact that you and others respond so often to my posts, and the fact that so few people respond to my FB posts is the major reason I'm leaving FB. The vast majority of FB posters are all about PR, nothing more. I get way more interest here.

You cannot expect "privacy" in a public domain Bob.

FaceBook is like standing on the White House lawn buck naked.

If you don't want it spread around ... don't go there.

. I DO expect my personal info to NOT be shared by FB. I understand I'm in the public domain.

It's understandable Bob. And I'd not insinuate that your wrong, ignorant of the situation, or expectations are too high.

It's just not the reality of the situation.
Facebook is now and has always been by intent a phishing site ...

Use at our own risk proposition.

I NEVER liked facebook.

I got 1 virus from it as soon as I landed on a homepage and that was it for good.

I don't need FB and it doesn't need me.

FaceBook ...despite it's obvious drawbacks has been very beneficial to our band and has served as primary or secondary link of communication to most of the gigs we have performed in the last six months.

Before you cry foul check out our band page ... we are growing and gigging steadily.

Facebook is a big part of that.

Jericho March is a new band. Less than six months old. Yes we had a foundation to start with but have more than doubled what NKF was capable of.

Food for thought my friends. Food for thought.

I gotta agree with George, it's an excellent way to promote. But you can't rely on it solely. One problem I have is that most of my "friends" on fb are other musicians or friends of musicians, and don't go to other band's shows. Other than that it's a huge time waster for people who have time to waste.
