Just a thought after watching a documentary about Americas newest billionaire.
I have to give a big kudos to Band Mix. I think there is a lot more honesty here.
Yeah we fight and we are totally brutal... But all of you that hang here are great and very, very, real.
What do you think?

Bigger isn't always better. Unless of course you are speaking of a cut of double chocolate cake. And I get tired of those social networks always telling me to join. I think I fell into Like dislike hell one day and can't find my way out. Other than the occasional anonymous non members or one day only members, it's a pretty great group of diverse musicians and personalities.

WEIRD. I thought I posted a response but it's NOT here. I'll try again. I get more from the Bandmix forum than I do from FB. FB is a busineess/personal ADVERTISEMENT VEHICLE. FB is about ME, ME, ME. For me FB has been mainly a big time-waster. Bandmix is a community of musicians. I get a lot more on here than I do on FB. People on BM for the most part participate in serious give-and-take. FB for the most part is the opposite. I'm thinking of pulling the plug on FB, it's a waste of time.

I was one of the few that THOUGHT FB was a good idea. It was for a long time, and I made a few buddies. However, and this is more telling. I left FB after they removed my conversation history without warning.
My FRIENDS left me at that point, and to be completely honest, only two from a moderate number, are in touch. 1 is a family member, the other a person I met at language school.
Personally I feels that there are avenues, but those avenues are curtailed by business design. That business design is not what you sign up for, nor are you told there is a price on your head when a company goes to market.
Reverbnation:
You are clearly told what is going on. On FB, YOU are what is going on, and you give it freely to your friends.... (So called).
I prefer a place where I can talk, pick up info, and perhaps in those small moments, offer some advice too. For that I do in fact thank BM. I just think the constant spammers, should be banned, or perhaps something worse.
Popularity on FB is the keyword.
Here and in a few small places these days. You are your Ambassador because you are not saying, "I got the coffee on, I'm at Crown Plaza" Ect.
What bothers me is that EVERYONE can get a FREE BLOG, yet if you do not say anything on FB. You do not exist.......... Well at least for the moment.
And.... People are worried about security, many won't release a blog for fear of it. Yet millions on FB tell their life story.
And you can do that here, a blog, (Sorry for using 'And' at the start of a sentence).
But most prefer to do that within the safety of FB who is now on the Market.
Horses for Courses.
Cheers

FB is more of chit-chat site. Letting people know what you're doing, sharing pics, etc. It's not meant to be a forum, so I wouldn't compare the two.

exactly, they serve different purposes.
I do both, but prefer talking with people who disagree with me.
I find that musicians are not afraid to give their real opinions without filter. I much prefer an honest conversation to a nice one.

I'll disagree with you Yod. But first we have to agree on something we can disagree about.

Well I love talking with you because you have no filters of religion holding you back, though you are a man of great faith.

See even that I have a hard time disagreeing with you.
I will say it is good to see the CHIPSTER hanging out.
Some one got him so ticked off once, that he even said "BUGGER OFF"
I should give him a call sometime, really good guy.
As far as facebook, you have to have friends. I don't have any steeenking friends. Even my wife's cat snarled at me this morning.

Yea yea ,very funny. Did you ever get that brand new pair I sent you? Even the tags were still on them.
By the way I had a really cool dog like yours when I was a kid.
He ran away, moved in with the neighbors up the street.

Facebook has not been nearly as helpful in building our band as Bandmix.
But I feel it remains useful in spreading the word locally about what's going on.
Facebook has reconnected me with old friends and gained me some new ones.
Bandmix has interconnected me with musicians some of which I also share time on Facebook.
For me they have different purposes though some of the benefits overlap.
Neither restore my faith in man kind however.
But then, that's not where my faith belongs anyways.

Geeze Sans, so philosophical!
You know sooner or later the misses is gonna say "Not tonight honey, please just go stroke your guitar."
( just bustin' now can you come up with something a bit more lighthearted. Klugmo man did!)
