Ok so like I said, Johnny 7 went down to play in GC contest. Really cool...
I did it like 4 years ago. It is VERY , VERY tough to get up there cold and wail away.
Any way I wangled a spot last night in case someone didn't show. Brought my guit, and of course someone didn't show. Guess what?

I had a bit of fun. I actually might have won except I need a haircut and I am just getting plain old.

Oh,,,, and I have to learn how to play guitar with my tongue. The guy who won couldn't play a LICK of blues, but he sure could lick his guitar.

Any way those of you that know me and also share so much this is the same. Thanks my Friends and keep ROCKIN'

Great job Glenny! I've done a few of the Guitar Center Blues contests also. I've never been a traditional blues player so I could only make it so far but they are fun. I have a video somewhere of my first one back in 2005 just after high school.

That iS tough, no band behind you, no vocals. I prefer performing with good accompaniment. Makes the job easier. That GC "Battle" is a weird concept. Good job Glen.

Thanks Glen, but I don't know how talented a bass player I am. I know I could be a lot better. I've got so much going on I don't spend nearly enough time practicing as I'd like. My bass tone is pretty tough to beat though. I haven't heard anybody who sounds like me. The one thing that I'm confident in is my vocals. It wasn't until we did some recording a while back that I finally enjoyed listening to my singing. I have some power on the mike these days.

Most GC 'contests' are just a promotional thing to get bodies into their stores.

Yes, playing in the middle of a retail store to thin backing tracks under office florescent lighting with a handful of other axe grinders studying your every move certainly qualifies as a tough room. It is what it is, with some nice goodies for the guys who can stay in the game.

Man Glenn your blues chops at tops! Loved the video. You have great bends and delivery (something I haven't been able to do well). Maybe give me lessons one of these days haha?
