Man, that's crazy! Have to put on "Hello Nasty" to reminisce. Such a big loss to the hip hop community.

Sorry, I'd write an elegant post using words like "transcendent," but I feel like I've been kicked in my stomach...

For real. This is MY era. I was in my teens and twenties as they broke ground and REIGNED. So many road trips were themed by them. SO sad.

George he was also a boss bass player both electric and upright. That is very unusual in the rap world. They also play funk and punk. And he was an accomplished producer as well.

Admittedly I know or knew little of the man and not intended to be disrespectful of the deceased.
But I have and still do hold THE BEASTIE BOYS in absolute contempt.

To my knowledge They were probably one of the few "rap" artists/groups that actually didn't go ranting on about beating women down, shooting up the neighborhoods and preaching hatred... To that end I respected what they did...even though I wasn't particularly swayed by their style and genre.
