Some of you know my wife has an antique shop in downtown Kilgore that we recently opened and are diligently working to develop business.
Today there was a "retro" sidewalk sale in the downtown district where the merchants set up booths and displayed their wares on the sidewalk.
The turn out was good. Some music ( even if it was limp wristed crap from the 70's on a radio program, I mean seriously I was not listening to that crap in the 70's but I guess someone was :? )
Some hot-rods, good food and my wife had her best sales and marketing day ever.

Now to the point.
Floyd ( JERICHO MARCH bassist ) wanted to take his acoustic six string and do some busking in front of my wife's shop. He wanted me to play along and offered me one of his guitars. Now understand I have never played an acoustic more than a strum or two in my life.
During my walk about I came across this Alvarez RD20S in a pawn shop and on a whim purchased said instrument.
Floyd and I sat in the shade of an awning there adjacent to my wife's place just a pickin and grinning.
Floyd (Eric Davis) is an awesome guitar player. Why he wastes time with a hack like me is beyond my comprehension.
Too bad most talented musicians are too ego centric to pass along the knowledge the way Floyd is willing to do.
The difference in a couple of hours on an electric and an acoustic are quite striking. And I may have damaged the tip of my third finger in the process of all the bends I was pulling off.
But it will heal.
The experience itself was beautiful.

I didn't know your wife had an antique store. Hey I'm for sale.
That sounds like such a fun time, and I've seen it and shared before.
Really cool Sans, wish I had been there. Very special.
That's the sort of thing that only comes around when the stars line up and the earths gravity field shifts. :)

Cool!
Some of my favorite musical experiences have been playing acoustic with friends in the park, on the sidewalk or at the beach. I can't explain it but music just seems to work when I let it hang out in a very free and public setting. I need to do this again soon.

George, Floyd is what I call a musical soul mate. You meet very few of those in your career as a musician they are a TRUE blessing when they come along. During these times you grow as a musician in leaps and bounds! The reason Floyd wants to hang with you is because you are DANG GOOD PEOPLE!

Kudos to you for diving in with and for that acoustic... (I suspect Floyd obtained a brand new tier of respectfulness for you as a musician, because you kept open to his desire for the acoustic endeavor....

I have found that many musicians are willing to share their knowledge, but it takes the receiver of such t knowledge to show their modicum of receptiveness... Apparently, You come through with flying colors for your band mate there... You guys rock! ;)

Its always best to challenge yourself like that. Doing things out of your comfort zone will help you overcome many obstacles. We can't forget the Lord moves his way and its up to us to follow. Great work on the home front there George !!!
