I have had a little more than a week to learn 50 songs. Its a 3 piece so I'll be doing it all. I have been practicing like heck 3.5 hours a day. I have my parts nailed it should be fun! The venue is a Beach club (open air) on the Seawall in Galveston. :D

it'll all be fun for a player like you
Mr Haley, just stay away from the
jellyfish blues. My favorite pastime at
Galveston Beach, watching people touch
the jellyfish.

If everybody had an ocean
Across the U. S. A.
Then everybody'd be surfin'
By the Galveston Bay

I love that place, been there a couple of times. Does it still smell like gas poured on the beach.

RGM, I really don't go to the beach anymore. I am bored with it LOL! Every few years the wife and I will go to the Poop Deck! It is a bar that is elevated. It's on the seawall just across from the beach. I like to set up there take in the BEAUTIFUL view and have some cocktails. For those of you unfamiliar with Galveston. It is a barrier island that runs parallel with the mainland. In the 1920's they built a seawall to protect the island after the Galveston storm of 1900 that killed an estimated 6000 to 8000. Seawall Blvd runs right along the seawall and drunks drive off of the seawall to the beach below from time to time. Anyway opposite the beach are business's and this bar we are playing is there.
After you have been playing in coverbands as long as I you tend to learn songs faster. Thank God this guy does all standard songs some I played several years back but most I haven't played in 20 to 30 years s I had to basically relearn them. Misson Imposter is not playing much. This guy called me up and asked if I was interested in being his regular sub. It is beneficial to us both. I will play with Mission Imposter but when they aren't playing I can pick up gigs with this guy. He has already given me 5 gigs!

I got with the bass player to run thru beginnings and endings and to go over the changes they have made to the songs due to it being a 3 piece. I am as ready as one can be. I have learned ALL of there songs! I have practiced all morning and just finished changing strings on the Strat! It is an early gig 5 to 9 Heck I'll be home drinking a beer by 11 pm CST!

You are an animal Jeff! No way I could pull off 50 new songs in a week with a 3-piece band. Have a great gig!

There is a guy I know who plays in a Kareoke band. Claims he knows close to 300 songs.

He seems a bit frantic.

I told him he must not drink or smoke and his mind must be like a big jigsaw puizzle.

He riplied, "Ice tea! That's all...." And started playing some AC/DC thing.
