The lake where I live is really produceing some quality fish this year.
Wed. caught 2 between 5-6 lbs. and 3 got away after hooked
because my rod is too light,(pardon the punn). Useing a top water pop-r.
Finding them at rocks along dam area and not under docks as usual.
Catching crapie with slip bobber and worm. Thats a great system. My
boat is running good and strong and my dog Taylor enjoys
every weekend on the water. I get good action with the light rod but
it doesn't have enough ass to set the hook when they bite. Will be
on the water in the morning at 6:30 am.

I fish all the time. I catch everything from panfish to bass to channel catfish. I use nothing but lures, mainly Mepps spinners and jigs. My two favorite fish are big bluegill and redear sunfish. Occasionally I fish for white bass. I haven't been eating the fish I catch but I plan to this year. I fish from shore. I haven't fished topwater in many years. I used to all the time when I was young. It's a lot of fun and at times very productive. I also used to use fake worms all the time, haven't done so in years also. Lures that I catch bass on are size 2 and 3 Mepps spinners, Crappie Sliders and Blakemore Road Runners. The Mepps Spin-flex spinners with a Mister Twister added are lethal for bass. Also the Black Fury Combos with a Mister Twister added are great for bass. The Mepps Xd spinners size 2 and 3 are great for bass also. Best colors for bass are black, charftreuse, orange and pink. The standard brass Aglias are a must in my tackle box.

Klug, my father in law lives on the Texas Louisiana border. His boat is docked at his back yard pier. He gets in his boat crosses the Sabine river in about 10 or 15 minutes he is in Louisiana where it is legal to jug fish (Trout line from a 2 liter coke bottle). He catches 30 40 and even 50 pound channel cat! a few years ago he caught a 45 pound spoonbill catfish!
At the Lake Conroe damn just north of Houston the water is so deep and catfish have lived there so long that the rumor is there are catfish large enough to swallow a MAN! I love fried catfish, hush puppies, cold slaw and 5 or 6 Spaten's
