I was in the studio last night for the first time in over a month working on my cover of "Red". I added a new guitar track and fixed some bass boo boos. Let me know what you think, it still has to be mixed and mastered.

Thanks Jeff & John! Yeah I'm actually a prog rocker who got converted to punk years ago lol.
Etu, it's the only track on my player, Red (King Crimson).

Come on Jimmy we know its just easier to get gigs playing punk rock than prog, just kidding!
I for one am jealous of you Jimmy, I mean you are one of the more diverse musicians on this site, punk, prog to bolero's!

Sad but true John, prog rock goes over some people's heads, but punk makes a connection with people, it's more raw and real.
Thanks as always John, I'll send you a CD when it's ready.

JD, instead of giving you a vanilla comment. I will tell you
what I think.
In my opinion this song at any given point should have a dominant
instrument. At times to my ear the guitars cancel each other out
of that role. Its my opinion that in most music this rule should be followed.
When listening to music your ear searches naturaly for that instrument
and supplying it no matter which instrument it is only pleases the ear
and listener. As I'm sure you know this effect is best found in
mastering.

p.s. good job[/b]

Excellent observation Klug. With this song and much of prog rock it seems like the drums are struggling with the guitars or the bass is struggling with the keyboards for dominance. Maybe it's because it's an instrumental but really there is no dominant instrument, all must work together to achieve the final effect.
Thanks for listening.

GT Jimmy is going backwards, didnt Maiden kinda come out of the punk movement, but they hated it, whereas Jimmy seems to have gone from prog back to punk, kinda Devoish in nature, LOL!

That's odd, everyone else can see it and play it. Anyone have any ideas?

Oh yeah, thats right.
Everyone wanted to lump them in with punk or have them play it to be signed, and they hated that.
Still, they must have bent a little because to me the first album is like punkish prog.
I always called them garage prog. They have prog elements, but the music is more simple to play.

I think it sounds great! I'm definitely going to hafta re-familiarize myself with King Crimson. I only dabbled a little with the band, and that was years ago. Good stuff!
