Yes why not? Take away the 4 billion from the oil company's that make Pennies on a gallon of gas then add that to the trillion dollars given to co. like the now defunct Solyndra then watch as the oil company's take the jobs they now provide to Mehico and China Phukin BRILLIANT!

Oil company's make 99% of their profits from OTHER things they make from oil like plastics and urethane's. Who cares about fact's just spin it about the GREEDY oil co. and the sheeple will follow the DUMB @SS PRESIDENT! God please let November get here FAST!

Everyone got so upset at the bailouts but no one cares that 4 billion a year is given to the oil companies? Give it a rest Jeff. Those bastards are greedy and need to be taken down a few notches. Regarding this fall, I wouldn't get your hopes too high.

When people talk of oil subsidies, they tend to forget that their are very few oil companies in the world that are not owned by governments. government owned companies are a hotbed of corruption.
these would be exxon, shell and chevron in the world wide markets.
the subsides are a guard against these companies being bought out by foreign governments.
it would would be unwise to remove them without careful consideration.
mainly because our own government could not buy them when the bidding starts.
a little subsidy is cheap compared to the price of the resulting national socialism. (nazi for short) of course you can readily see that the resulting nationalism would not be US nationalism, it would be the national socialism of a foreign power.
this would be true of course for US agriculture, as well.

people would do well to remember that Nazi is a anagram for
National socialist workers party

Big oil is poised to announce 50% increase in profits over last year. In the past decade they've made trillions, while Americans struggle to keep enough gas in their car to get to work. This must end.

Even Boehner is open to ending the tax breaks for big oil.

it really has nothing to do with profit
it has to do with right of way.
as long as these few companies have a contractual obligation to the American people they can not be put on the open market.
do you really think that Putin could not muster up the funds to buy exxon?
he could do it over night.
ask the Germans if they think that Putin is easy to deal with when the heating season starts.

well once you get out side the US influence nothing trumps national socialism.
most people believe that china is a communist country but of course you can easily see that it is not. It is a command economy in the model of Nazi Germany.
for good reason; from a control stand point, it works.
If you believe your life should be subordinate to the will of the state, you will naturally agree that this system is the best.
if you do not, you have very few choices left in the modern world.

Kinda like a bribe ?
Sounds like we will have to pay irregardless.
:D
Hey man when push comes to shove the US is still the biggest consumer of oil - its a two edged sword - who's gonna kill that cash cow ?
Let them buy EXXON - you know what would happen to the price of oil if the US was excluded from World markets ?????
And according to Fox News we are exporting more oil than we are taking in ....
Oil under American soil.

well no, it is not a bribe
it is a legal road block
set in front of people or institutions that might not have the best interest of the US as a goal.
say we are at war.
The Private US company can be compelled to supply the needs of the citizen,
in the same way you are drafted, where as a foreign power would be different.
you would have to first conqueror them then take the oil you need for the army.
this is really not complicated.
but it can be very dangerous.
well it never used to be complicated until the electorate lost it's perception of reality.
But as Tolkien said.. "hobbits happy and free, will be ignorant and ungrateful on the whole"

Jimmy are you REALLY naive enough to believe the oil company's are gonna take a hit! They are going to pass that hit RIGHT DOWN THE LINE TO YOU! Rich folks are the one's with the money thats a FACT and money is POWER! You can tax the rich more and you can Tax the oil co. more. All they are going to do when you do that is LAY OFF WORKERS AND CHARGE MORE FOR THEIR PRODUCTS! Why can't you folks GET THAT THRU YOUR HEADS?
