ONe week away from The first Official Song-Writing COntest in El Paso
1) I have invited our mayor to debut and kick-off the event. (He's a guitar feller). I found out that he is a close friend of one of my Judges,( who is a producer among things...) Needless to say, its 90% odds he'll show...and if so... he will "gig" for about 5 minutes... I cant think of a more profound way for city leadership to express its support of the arts, than like this ...
2) We got 77 people so far, who responded to our invite. http://www.facebook.com/events/308993622484447/
3) We actually expect that number to double from folks who don't ever respond to anything but instead, just show up... Needless to say if it doubles , that will pack the house.
4) I just ordered 1-3 place trophies for the winners, Music pendants for all participants, and I even bought special gold colored lapel pins (Treble Clefs) for the judges.
5) Just drafted and printed out all the criteria and scoring sheets...The way we got this set up, the team is coordinated very tightly on what to look for... There is every reason to believe that the feedback/evaluation will be thorough, dead-nuts spot on...and most important...useful for the contestants to walk away with...
6) The Judges panel will be swimming in wine for the evening... I have an extraordinary group of members volunteering for this... I intend to wine and dine em all evening...
7) We'll have a 1st, 2nd, 3rd place winner cash prize set up, plus Voucher for recording studio time..
All in All... A splendid good time is to be had by all!!
