You don't mean to offend anyone? Then why be rude?
Your points are valid - we should learn the tools of the trade. Yep, I find that boring as hell but I'm learning how to record and use the various tools.
Read-? I've got an album and ten years on the road to my credit and I haven't read since I played "Alfie" in a pathetic club band many years ago.
But I'm busily studying theory now and just picked up sheet music for a little gig I have coming up wtih a piano, guitar and violin - me on bass. Is reading a plus - you bet.
However, you in your rather juvenile phrasing managed to insult many musicians here including me who have track records longer than yours by a country mile. Four years? Please...
If you'rethat good show your goodness with your output not your words. Don't woof at your colleagues about whom you know nothing and put on airs. Very bad form.

Sorry, like i said i was simply trying to help people understand the importance of quality.I was actual having the same argument with a friend who absolutely refuses to utilize things from other genres.Just wanted to point out that if you are not open to all different kinds of music you won't see the great things about all different types of music...Obviously like different structure & sound in-general.

Joshua, I have one thing to say to you! A very WISE OLE MAN once told me a story back in 1976 when I was your age "don't let your mouth overload your A$$"
When you come here to a site of musicians that have paid their due's and I don't mean to offend you! SERIOUSLY before your punk A$$ was born! PALEEZE bring a loaded gun you little SNOT NOZED PUNK! Sorry if I offended you!

I refuse to stop playing piano with a hammer. No matter what the cost may be. We get piano's pretty cheap and they last a week.
Beware Ibanez guitars when we tried to play one with the Truck it busted first time ........... it was brand new.

Joshua,
I listened to your tunes. Honestly it's not my thing. I wouldn't use any of the sounds you use. But hey I'm old. I can't be taught new tricks besides I like simple sounds.
Bob Dylan could write circles around most with an acoustic guitar or a pair of spoons and a harmonica. imo
If a song is good, people can feel it regardless of the quality of recording. But a bad song... well not a studio trick in the world gonna fix that one. Just another pig wearing lipstick.
Some of us just do this for fun. Not trying to be a rock-star. So forgive my low budget home recordings or not... don't really matter much to me. But there are plenty of really good people here you could probably learn from if you so choose, but you probably should drop the judgement crap unless someone asks for your opinion.
Just sayin...
Good Luck to you.

Wow...fantastic response...Gee, thanks.
One things for sure...I'm glad my post wasn't filled with crap like yours.
Whats with the "Loaded Gun" comment?
I listened to your tracks, which means you should know exactly what I'm talking about.
"snot nosed kid"...Really?
Just because i haven't been a musician as long as you instantly means i have to prove myself before i can give advice to the general public and fellow musicians?

Joshua, Seriously is that all you got? You talk about us lashing out? Lashing out is what you started this thread with SON! You should probably rethink your assualt on a music site of musicians that, I am going to shut My trap because it is obvious I prolly should!

If you understand what I'm saying may i suggest you delete your intro to this forum and try again. You came off hostile. I don't think you meant to but your confidence comes off as cockiness. Jeff is a nice guy. He has much experience as do many here in the business of making music recording, being in a band juggling music and family etc... Besides burning bridges should be saved for jobs you walk out on and tell the boss to Phuck off!
