All these years...

I know that in some respect, one or all of you have achieved success in the industry.
I have studied from a very young age in music, as I am sure some, or most of you have.
I have been through the ringer, and have been spit out. It reminds me everyday what I am. Every waking moment that I have tells me that I have a gift. Who is to say if I am wrong or right? I am humble enough to admit it can not be myself.
I do cherish those few precious thoughts that I have had during my youth, when all seemed to fit. Where I knew where I was going, and where I would end up. Let us be truthful in saying there is no such thing.....
You never know what tomorrow brings...
Then so be it.
Where does that leave me now?
It is a good question, that I believe that you, being experienced as you are, could answer.
Should I finally put my guitar down, and stop trying to find the people I need to create a fully functional professional project?
Thoughts please....

Give up? How old are you? I just turned 54 and I never give up. Quit your whining and keep at it. We don't allow wimps and whiners here.

Johnchakeres,
I know music can depress the HELL out of us musicians! In the words of the VERY WISE FB you have to pick yourself up by YOUR bootstraps and GET ON with it!
Are you kidding BRO? Look at all you have accomplished! Now quit feeling sorry for yourself and DO WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO!

QUIT!?
What the Hell would you quit for!?
Don't you love music anymore!?
I sing everywhere I go, it's like I have Tourette's. My wife thinks I'm a good singer and yells at me to stop. There was a long line at Wal-Mart a few days before Christmas, and I opened up, "Angels We Have Heard on High," in a resounding bass, I actually drew applause, took a little bow!!!
That's all music is about, brother, making other people happy. Hell, I'd do it even if I was the only one that I made happy with it...ever!

We play music because that is what we do. I want folks to hear what I cook up but if not that's ok too. What's the big deal?
You got old. You're not famous. yeah...me too. But so what?
If you can quit. You should.

That was what I was hoping you guys would say. I don't think I could ever give it up, but I have had my doubts as of late about concentrating my effort in making music.
I thought maybe I should be focusing more on something else.
I don't know, I guess I will just roll with the punches.

I never said anything about being famous.. That would probably suck the life right out of me. No thank you.

Over the last some thirty years I thought about quiting. Just remember there will be ups and downs through it all. People will come and go and you'll have to put up with a lot of asinine people but just pick your self up and keep going forward till you meat the right people.

I don't think you can actually quit. I've heard of people trying.
Best you can do is take a break from it. But she'll eventually call you back and you'll go to her.

Frustration makes you want to quit. Now lets take it apart.
What is frustrating you? Doesn't anybody say they like what you do?
Do you need approval so bad? Do you need money for your music
to feel valid? Is everybody around you better than you are so you
feel inadaquit? Do you feel you can change the world with your
music and cant get anyone to listen? Do you see yourself on a world stage
and think that is your destiny? Do you think you're special? Do you need
to be part of a group so you can feel wanted for your talents? Do you feel you
are wasting your time cause others dont feel the same way you do
about your music? Do you feel the years rushing by and still you are not
musicly successful the way you think you should be? Are you frustrated
because you play and cant sing or sing and cant play? Nobody where I live
wants to do what I want to do & on & on & on----------------------------

Ive played off and on since I was 12, Im 49, damn 37 years, I have actually stopped a few times, for up to 5 years, but Ive always come back to it.
I might stop going thru the hassles of gigs, but I dont think I will ever stop playing.
I get a lot of enjoyment these days just playing with myself! LOL, well you know what I mean!
I will say if you are younger sometimes life gets in the way for a bit.

Quit, give up, take a break, whatever how's
it gonna affect you? I can't quit, or even
slowdown but I've always been lucky.
I'm a better guitar player than most, turning
into a helluva a piano player, I sing while
doing both, I guess I need to start playing
the drums, they're just sittin here.
This forum is not for quitters, and you're
not going to quit, play the music for you,
and if others here it and like it, great, but
you've got to like it. If they don't like your
music phukkem and feed them fishheads.
Music it's wrote the same in all languages.
