Booking ...

Feeling pretty good right now. Just like last year at this time I'm already getting calls to book the band 3-4 months in advance.

Proves to me people who have heard us want us back and remember who and where we are.

May not mean a lot to some ... but honestly I never expected to be getting calls trying to book us months in advance.

I like it.

I like it a lot.

This guy today when I told him I'd check the boyz schedule and call him back said.
" I'll be praying God makes it so. The people loved you guys and we want you in our show."

Thats great George.

I think the fact that you guys have been together for soo long in terms of bands plays into your favor.

My band has basically been together, kinda off and on for 25 years, and we get some strange calls from the past to do gigs. In fact the last few weve done have basically been private partys, with set pay.

I know your motivation isnt getting paid the way our band is, but the longer you keep it together, the more of this you will see.

Rock on my friend!

I've got confirmation from all but our front man.

Not heard back from him yet ... :?

I'm ready to ink this bad boy on my calender.

It can be a beatch juggling six schedules.

Keep a calender and tell the guy's to black out the dates they CAN'T play gigs . Keep it updated and that way you are not waiting on them!

George for a couple of years when my band got back together I went around booking gigs, in my cell phone there was a calendar, and basically I put in that calendar the days that I know the other guys were doing something, so I didnt book something on top of thier plans.

Like Haley said get a block calendar, sit everyone down and get them to mark off any dates that they know they cant do.

I found while I was doing that, that by being able to just say immediately that we could do something, it often got gigs.

I will tell you something else silly I did. During this period we were using Myspace, and myspace had a band calendar, so if a sat was one of the guys birthday and they didnt want to gig, I just put on our public calender that we were doing a private birthday that weekend. I know that sounds crazy but at the time everyone was into Myspace, so I had people get in touch and say man I see your calendar is getting full, when can you play here. LOL

I don't even ask the fellers anymore, I just book it and whoever can make it plays. Also not afraid to replace you if you would rather go to your cousin's birthday party.

The May gig is confirmed as well as another confirmed today for February.

I'm really pleased as this is just January and we are getting referrals pretty regularly.

We all seek out opportunities to play and the boys funnel all the feeds to me as the "booking agent".

Major considerations such as jobs ETC must be addressed.
The real factor is this.

One of our member's wife has severe ( almost fatal ) Lyme Disease.
It was thought for years that she was wasting away with Lupus or possibly arthritis.
She is undergoing treatment now that they have discovered the hidden Lyme.

Another of our member's wife is undergoing Chemo / Radiation for a very aggressive form of Breast Cancer she has already undergone surgery.

A third member of our band is married to this redneck ass who always types stuff on Bandmix.

That some pretty serious scheduling considerations right there.
