I know some of you are older than dirt..

You must be aware of this little gem.

Aren't you?

PS: I think I may be doing my own version of this one.
Any more of them as good as this little diddy?

Bummers. I'm only on a 44Kbps line modem so I can't watch You Tube. But I am older than dirt, just like this machine. This one is so old that BIOS
lables the the hdd's Slave and Massa.

Did you add the modem's extra settings line for your modem>?

http://www.pasty.net/settings.html

I had a dial up connection for so long, it's with me still in here.
(points at head)

If you didn't set the extra settings for your modem, look up your model and the extra settings and enter them. I never had to deal with anything lower than 53 kbps because I over rode those extra settings.

I.e. I like us robotics modems because I can over ride them and get 53kbps.

If you were a little closer, I'd send you a tower as it sounds like the minimum basic level of functionality has passed your machine.

PS: older than dirt = not a slight, indicates experience with music when it wasn't as bad as it is now.

I have a lot of parts, maybe I can help.

Did you add the modem's extra settings line for your modem>? I copied the instructions and tried but Juno, the provider, over rides the settings and sets the speed according to whatever is up its a$$ at the moment.

You are very generous.

Actually I like to bash this computer, even though it is the line speed that is causing all of my problems. I thought about another provider but they all want you to bundle three services to get high (er) speed Internet, so I just plug along with Dino running hand written messages up and down the phone lines. Max is 56K, but I never get as much as 46Kbpm.

I have faster machines that I use for recording, (Which I need to get back to doing on them) but none have modems in them as I don't want anything corrupting the DAW's. :)
