Boz Scaggs song Were All Alone what a
beautiful song, it's one I think Neanderpaul
or Klugmo, maybe you Mr. Yod oughta play.
I haven't played it on guitar but it voices out
spectacular on the piano.
I say play I mean you guys outa sing.
What are you working on today.

If I get a chance I need to run thru Panama, Van Halen a few times, we did it sat night for the first time, and at home I have just been nailing the little harmonic part, I totally missed it sat night, just had my finger a little out and it didnt happen, the rest of the song was good.
Oh yeah, I started 3 Steps in the key of c, instead of D! Then when I went for the first lead it didnt sound too hot! I looked at our bassist and we just morphed into the right key.
Maybe tomorrow I will get some pictures up. This place has a real small drum riser and its hooked to the little stage, so we set our drummer up front on the floor and kinda set up all around him.
I could look to my right and see him and our bassist behind him, we wound up doing about 20 songs that I cant remember when we did them last and they were kickin butt, had a great drunk dancing crowd.

The part that starts on a half note bent and goes up on a harmonic? It's really tough in motion. The song is not hard, probably boring to you without the influxes. I have to concentrate on coming straight down on that note or my fat fingertip will not meet paydirt. Straight down and pull up takes a bit of my arm. Short on the pick, pulling out with it.

Working on lots of solos all week long...
We played two shows this past weekend, Fri and Sat. The stuff I knew mostly note-for-note sounded good. "Bark at the Moon" keeps getting easier and easier, but I'm still fudging some notes at the end.
I still have to improvise a lot of solos because of lack of time to learn the layouts/note for note.
Going to try and nail down the solo to "I Don't Know" this week. Plus better versions of "Back for More", "Let It Go", "Ride On", "Rockin' Is My Business", and "Youth Gone Wild".
Always busy learning...

My routine doesn't change a whole lot. I'll spend at least an hour or two home recording or mixing something almost everyday.
I've got 3 new songs I'm motivated about right now. Should keep me busy for at least a few days.

Working on interjecting famous classic rock riffs into the middle of Freddie King's Hideaway (Peter Gunn verse) to make that song an instrumental extravaganza. Working on Willie The Wimp (SRV), as well as an original of mine Dead Fish Don't Fly. Will start working on 20 years of BB King by Curtis Salgado. I've got a good bass-line to it, just have to get completely familiar with singing it (ballbuster to play bass and sing on it). It's not easy playing bass and being the lead vocalist in a band.

Spent the 8th working on the final set up of our new PA system.
I also purchased some lumber and constructed a stand for the mixer and amps.
Was going to post pictures but alas I could not find my wife's camera.
No time this evening ... hard day ... short wind down then a good nights sleep hopefully.

It was a drive day for me today. Went through a blizzard of about 5 inches of snow on the roads..couldn't see out of my windshield and had to drive about 30 mph for hours until I got almost to Carlsbad NM.
Going to check out the caves tomorrow before pushing on to Albequerque for the night, playing Farmington Wed, Pagosa Springs Thurs, Colorado Springs Friday, Denver Saturday (Starting at the same time as the Broncos game so might get T'bowed) then going to Yellowstone for a couple of days before playing Spokane the following Wednesday. Then on to Seattle....
Loads of fun driving north through the Rockies during January.

I am trying to get our guitar player to learn a lead solo that sounds like a motorcycle.

I wouldn't sweat Bark at the Moon too much; no one can seem to play that solo right.
I can't remember ever seeing it being nailed note for note.

Trying to figure out how to play an interesting riff I threw into a jam we used to configure some gear. Record everything - there is music in the air.
We finally have some decent recording equipment.
